what time can i start?
10 Jul 2013, 01:20
sorry if this has been asked and answered but i heard that your fast day can start whenever you want as long as it was a 24 hr period. 7pm on sunday to 7pm on Monday. Does that work? I want to do this right. i have to say it was pretty easy to not eat after 7 pm, went to sleep at 11pm, woke up at 8am, had coffee in the morning and ate a salad w/grilled chicken and a measured amt of balsamic vinegar. Before i knew it 7pm was rolling around. Just wondering if this was okay?

Welcome to the forum TriciaD! The way I work it is to eat dinner .. say 6pm then nothing until my 400-500 cal dinner at 6pm the next day, then nothing more until breakfast the day after. So 24 hour fast with less than 100 cal (milk in coffee) then 500 cal dinner then breakfast with normal day. Hope that helps. :)

You could kick start your fast by eating light on that prior evening meal? No rules are so strict tho' and eating normally is (IMO) ok too.

I work shifts and I'm trying to integrate the work from the last shift into a fast day.

If I had normal a 5 day week I think I'd have something the fri evening, fast on the Satuday, ready to relax a little on the Sunday morning. You don't want to facing work on monday feeling slightly under the weather, at least I don't.

Hi TriciaD. The original 5:2 fast day is wake up on a fast morning, consume only 500 or less calories for that whole day then sleep. Wake up the next day and eat normally.
