Hi madel09. They're called zero noodles and you buy them from Holland and Barratt. They are actually about 8 calories per 100 and cost £2 for a 200g pack. The Japanese have used them for hundreds of years. If you google them you will find there's loads to read up on them. I find them really good as they bulk up a meal. Someone I know has them with cooked spinach, garlic and chilli flakes. She tosses them is soy or some other low cal sauce and has them as a very low calorie meal. They sure fill you up. They come in a sachet and you need to rinse them really well as the water they are stored in has a peculiar smell. Cook them for 3 mins. I had them in soups. I think they are great. As I mentioned before my husband doesn't, but then he doesn't like spaghetti pasta either.

why eat something with zero calories ? Cheaper to just get a grip.

Because it makes it easier to not go over your 500 cals for the day if you are feeling hungry? If losing weight, eating healthily was as easy as just 'getting a grip' then there would be far fewer overweight people no?

If you read up on them they are supposed to be really good for you. The food equivalent of a colonic irrigation apparently. ;) Anyone out there who has bought them and not using them (you know who you are) send them over here

Another good idea to "stretch" food that I've come across is "Courgette spaghetti" ...use a Julienne peeler to create spaghetti style strips of courgette. Flash fry with Fry Light in a non stick pan for a couple of minutes. Drain and serve as a "bed" for things like low fat bolognaise etc on a Fast day - gives the illusion of a nice big plateful with hardly any calories....

I have just been looking at them they look really good especially the fibre content. Thanks Monty
The courgette 'spaghetti' sounds like a good idea too, I love courgettes :)

I got the Rice version yesterday, H&B had sold out of the other variants, and am going to have it in some spicy homemade veg soup (when I eventually get some time)I braced myself for a disgusting smell when I opened the pack and was pleasantly surprised. I have to go back into town before lunch so I'm going to stock up on a few packs.

LOL....meant to say Monty that one of the things I do like is the Hartleys 10kcal jellies....they come in tubs in a variety of flavours like 'strawberry & Kiwi or Raspberry & Cranberry ...I have a tub after dinner on my fast day and for only 10 cals it makes me feel as if Ive just had two courses!!!!.....get them in my local Sainsbury s ;)

Another great alternative is spaghetti squash. I haven't tried it myself, but apparently they're really good, low in calorie ( really low) and taste just like pasta. There are some great recipes on-line. Who'd a thunk it?

It's great that we get to experiment with all these new and crazy foods lol brings the creative side out of all of us!

Hey Sians - leave some for me! Hi Virginia, hitting Sainsbury's NOW:-)Sincere24, I would love to try the spaghetti squash but have never been able to locate some. If you find anyone who does them, let us now. As for Courgette Spaghetti, I bought a gadget from Lakeland which is a bit like a pencil sharpener and you turn courgette into it to make spaghetti. I was in truth, disappointed. It wasn't cheap and it's no use for purpose really:-(
