Hi I have had the constipation problem too. I think it is fairly common. People suggest lots if water, some take supplements, others take psyllium. I just make sure I get plenty of good fibre on my eating days. I can't stand prunes but apparently are very effective.

I didn't notice any difference in my 'performance' to start with, but now I'm 4 weeks in, I'm finding I'm more regular ... almost as if I was putting so much in, unrelentingly, before, but now, giving my system a rest day gives it the chance to go and work on the lower end on my digestive system and get it moving. I have always had a tendency to constipation, or at least regularly going several days between bowel movements, so to be able to 'go' every day, whether it is a fast day or not, is a big bonus.

So maybe your system will settle down too, once it is used to this pattern of eating.

Good luck! :clover:

I do water fasts twice a week (no food) and (again sorry if this is tmi), I get a 'runny bottom' about 7pm on a fast day. Not a lot and only have to go once, but watery. I've come to get used to it and assume it's my system just doing a clear out. Maybe also because i drink a lot of water on a fast day. Otherwise I'm normal on non-fast days.

For all of those suffering with constipation. I found that eating whole grains in fast and feast days help a lot. So go for oatmeal, brown rice, lentils, quinoa, whole wheat pasta and bread instead of the white rice, bread etc... Low carb diet contributes to constipation too, so be aware.

I eat lots of oatmeal and mostly whole wheat pasta and rice but the problem remains. I will search for psyllium and see how yhis goes.

People with hypothyroidism tend to have constipation problems. I do. Even after having my gall bladder out last year, still have problems. Just another thing us lucky hypo people have to deal with. :frown:

The thing is that I never had this problem before. Well, not never but not for many consecutive days. Up to now, I only had constipation when I went away from home.
Unless of course it is hypo constipation and has just decided to visit and stay for a while. Hmf...

Second fast day yesterday and this morning things are moving a little faster. Feeling a bit uncomfortable but nothing serious. I ate mostly fruit and veg yesterday for my fasting meals. Maybe I'll try the higher protein route next fast.

I have mild IBS and find that it really plays up the evening of the 'eat' day after fast day. So I have terrible runs = going a few times then it settles. I am on my 23rd fast day tomorrow and it has stayed similar throughout. In fact the tummy issues are worse in that it's almost like my body doesn't want food on a normal day. (until I get so hungry I can't cope)
