Benefits & Side Effects

hi all. just wondered if anyone else felt like this. I had my third fast day on monday which went really well. ate normally yesterday & today have been to the gym (3miles on treadmill) after breakfast of toast & 2 cups of tea. have picked at lunch time. chocolate bar, crisps & sandwich & had egg & chips for dinner, after which I felt (& still do) bloated & belly is really uncomfortable. about half hour after dinner felt like I could have been sick & had to sit down for a bit. is this normal?

do you think if I had another fast day tomorrow, instead of friday my belly might feel better & less bloated? this is the first time belly has felt bloated again & really full since starting this 2 weeks ago. dont really want to do 3 fasts a week, but had considered doing 1 after every 2 days of normal eating.

thanks. shelley x
Sorry you're feeling unwell. Sometimes fasting makes certain foods intolerances you didn't know you had come to light. It could be just the volume of food...for me even after 5 months I have to remind myself that I can't eat the same amounts as I used to.
This has happened to me several times as a result of overeating. I am not able to overeat like I use to. It makes me really sick now. I have learned to put on the brakes sooner..
Hiya - I swear there is a forum thread somewhere about what people eat on non fast days sometimes causing upset tums, but can't for the life of me find it sorry! I have bloaty fish tum so can sympathise... maybe what you had overloaded your system that day or you've picked up a bug? I'm a relative newbie to this, but found in a couple of months, that am more in tune with my tum eg toast or veggies for breakfast after a fast are a complete no-no for me- tinker about with stuff and you'll find what works for you :) :clover:
I'm definitely less able to manage as much food as I used to now - I have to stop myself when I feel full rather than having that extra bite or two just because it's nice, otherwise I'll feel bloated and a bit sick. I actually think this is a good thing, as it stops me from overfilling myself! It's far too easy just to want to clean the plate - and I don't always give myself a small enough portion for what my tum can manage these days!

...and every few months I seem to stupidly have to remind myself of how much less I can manage now. I'll go out for a meal and have starters, main & dessert - it's too much, and I'll feel rotten all night and half the next day from doing it. I remember for a few months until the next big occasion and think I can get away with a night of extreme indulgence, but I can't!

That's not to say I can't do a *bit* of over indulging - but not the way I used to!
It's funny how after months of 5:2 our brains are still thinking our stomachs are bigger than they now are!
thank you for your replies. got up this morning & belly fine. seems to have gone down overnight which is a relief. even stepped on the scales (which I said I wouldnt) & still the same weight as monday. really cant believe that!! think I may have to have smaller portion of chips & steer away from crisps. dont have them very often so they may also have something to do with it.

thanks again. shelley
