weird eye sensation?
01 May 2013, 15:49

I've notice that on my fast days that I get a weird sensation in my eyes - it's a bit hard to discribe - but it definitely occurs just on fasting days. Gives you the kind of sensation that you are tired - when in fact I am not..
Anyone else have this/know what it is?
I'm keeping hydrated...
cheers

I haven't noticed this...but do know what you mean re the tired feeling, I tend to feel more tired on non fast days and I think its because my body is busy digesting food! Anyway my post will 'bump' up the post to see if anyone else has!!

My eyes feel more 'tired' kinda gritty on fast days, (I wear contacts)... Maybe a side effect like feeling cold? X

Is it a slight blurriness? Some people have found this when in ketosis (fat burning).

Doesn't happen so much with people doing 5:2 because most aren't producing many ketones. If you are eating a low carb diet or perhaps well below your daily energy requirements you are more likely to get ketosis, or you might just be built that way.

I used to get sore/tired eyes when doing long fasts at the start (meal at dinnertime only) but now on maintenance and having late lunch as well the problem is no longer apparent. Possibly related to poring over this forum for hours every day, of course!
