Hi Steph, HAPPY EASTER to you. Thanks for your post. What a lovely time you are having.

My son has come home for Easter and it is lovely to have him with us. DH had to work over the past days so I was grateful for his company. As I was offering him all these goodies I broke my fadt early and I have absolutely been going crazy. I have had an awful lot of sweet stuff and I am not sure it will show next week. i will start fasting again on Tuesday but until then I am going to have a good time and not think of calories.

We too had wonderful weather today. It raises the spirits and makes us feel so wonderful. I hope you can enjoy the rest of the festivities and I will try and pop in tomorrow to say hello. Take care and big hug.

Hello Ieramul, Happy Easter! I'm so happy to hear you've had time to spend with your son, they are precious moments whatever their age, are they not?
In my previous post I said I wasn't wanting any more treats after eating 3 pieces? HA! that didn't last. I pigged out on Adam's stash then found out the next day he didn't want it at all so I tossed the rest in the garbage. So Saturday I was good and earned another check mark on my calendar. There have been too many big red X's lately and I have to get back on track. We had a delicious meal at my sister's this evening. The ham was so tender, sweet and salty at the same time. We took some home so I am FINALLY going to make quiche tomorrow! I was planning on bacon with broccoli but Adam just informed me he doesn't want broccoli, so I will make ham and cheese quiche instead. I intend on fasting tomorrow and am hoping I can wait until the evening to eat a single slice of quiche, with the calories most likely being at the 500 mark. My older sister gave Adam more darn sweets, three bags of Rolos, chocolate covered caramels, and one of Kit Kats, chocolate covered wafers. So I've eaten kit kats since coming home and then he had some butterscotch chips in the living room which I snacked on while watching a tv show. Nutty, I was already so terribly full! I'm looking forward to this full feeling being replaced with a comfortable empty feeling tomorrow. I also really like the freedom to enjoy family gatherings and all the food on special occasions without feeling guilty. A year ago when I was "dieting" and only eating 1200 calories a day, every day, I couldn't really enjoy get togethers with my family.
Good gosh! I am blathering on again, it is high time I got to bed! See you on the other side, big "careful" hug like the ones I gave my sisters and family this afternoon as I have a cold. I hope they don't get sick.
OH! I saw crocuses on my walk yesterday, yellow and purple ones! Spring is coming even though it SNOWED again today!
Goodnight! good morn!

Hi Steph, SNOW???? Goodness gracious I hope it doesn't settle and you can enjoy the crocuses during your walks. I am very sorry to hear you are not feeling well - maybe fasting at the moment is not the wisest thing - maybe just listen toyour body and eat healthy food. I hope you get better soon.

I am glad to hear you had such a nice time at your sister's. I wish I had family nearby.

DS had to leave yesterday morning therefore I released myself from the kitchen and propelled myself into frantic spring cleaning/clearing/de-cluttering. This was brought on by beautiful sunshine, blue skies and about 16 Degrees. Oh, how it changes everything even though during the winter I don't feel particularly emotionally affected by the weather, once the sun is out my mood lifts temendously.

I had lots of sweet food over the weekend so tomorrow I will fast and hopefully do another one on Friday or Saturday. I am not exactly sure if I am imagining this but I have actually been slightly disappointed that I didn't enhjoy the sweet food more. I also felt uncomfortably full. Lets see if I can tolerate having sweet food in the house without the need to eat it all up. Well after all I am quite capable to have tinned fish sitting in my larder without me thinking this needs to be finished off before I start fasting.

Lets hope you get better soon and promise me you take care if yourself. BIG HUG

Hello Ieramul, the sunshine sure makes a difference. It has been cloudy and raining now for the last few days and my mood has suffered (the snow banks have almost completely melted away, and the snow from Sunday morning was gone by Sunday afternoon). I don't have the energy I did on Saturday and no desire to go for a walk. I wish I could get back into being as motivated and energetic as I was last year at this time, despite the weather we had. Good for you for spring cleaning! Funny how we can easily forgo the healthy food in the cupboards on non fast days, but the sugar calls to us incessantly. I'd think, by now we should have the cravings licked or something. How unfair that we have to continuously fight them
I didn't manage a complete fast on Monday as I had planned. The quiche was too good and I had two small pieces instead of the one and a banana so I probably ate about 700 calories worth. Then yesterday I ate more quiche, pistachios, fruit and then back at the chocolate even though I was full to bursting. I wish I could get rid of this binge eating behaviour! Today I was hungry at noon since I hadn't eaten since 5 the previous day and I've not stopped eating since. It is 4 pm. If I had not kept right on eating I could have had a decent, healthy, supper, instead I ate...you guessed it...crackers! LOL I plan on fasting tomorrow, though and will treat myself to an apple pecan chicken salad from Wendy's, a fast food restaurant. The salad is so good and about 370 calories. It is large enough to satisfy. I'll be going to my friend Ille's tomorrow after work so will take the salad and a couple of oranges to share with her. She is ok with my fasting when I visit and I don't feel deprived, not having her cake, because I usually bring fruit and nuts. I usually fast on Fridays but Adam is having dental surgery to remove his wisdom teeth and and couple of others and I know I will want some of the ice cream he wants me to buy for him. Crazy that I am already planning my "treats" on Friday.
I feel the same when I eat the junk, it never seems to taste as good as it used to. I eat it because somehow I think it is a treat and if I'm going to eat a treat then more must be better. I kept on eating the kit kats on Sunday night even though, with my cold, I couldn't really taste them. How absurd is that?
My cold is almost gone, just hanging around in my sinuses and a periodic cough. Unfortunately, I couldn't go visit Marion this afternoon because of it. I hated calling her to cancel. She really looks forward to my visits. :frown:
My neighbour is yelling at her son, "get in the house NOW!" and her son is yelling back, "NO!" Oh, how I don't miss those days!
I hope your day went well. Have a wonderful evening!
Hugs!

Hi Steph, I am sure Spring will come to you soon and your energy levels will rise and life will look so much brighter. I hope Adam's procedure will go without any complications. I would also not fast on that day. food has the ability to calm us down and make us feel better.

I fasted today but more like 600 calories and will fast again on Friday. It's good to enjoy festivities and indulge but it is equally important to get straight back into fasting again. If I don't get back into fasting, it gets harder as I tend to think I'll start tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.

Steph, have a lovely time with Ille and a good fast cday tomorrow Take car BIG HUG

Hi Ieramul,
I agree it can be difficult to get back into the groove of fasting, just like it is difficult now for me to get back into the no junk food mode after having way too many red X's on my calendar this week. All started with the Easter treats. We've just come back from the surgeon's and Adam is not handling it well at all. He never does after anesthesia, he wakes up so angry he curses at me, throws things. He has calmed down somewhat now and is watching tv. The codeine should be kicking in now too which will give him some comfort. Today is going to be a difficult day for him. I'm hoping by Monday he will want to go to school and his mouth will have recovered enough for him to be eating almost normally again. Poor kid.
I was actually hungry this morning, after only eating a salad yesterday around 3:30 on my fast day. It felt good to have that hunger feeling again. So, I ate half a bagel with a fried egg, bacon and cheese on top...loads of fat...but oh so good :0. I had some strawberries as well, and a small bowl of butterscotch ice cream. I am full now and hoping to resist the ice cream for the rest of the day. I think I will have a cup of tea. I went to buy some yesterday and they had boxes of my favorite brand on sale for only 99 cents, regularly $3.79, a huge savings! It only comes out at Christmas, it is called "Christmas Morning" afterall, so they wanted to get rid of the remainder, hence the sale. I bought all six boxes they had left. Anyway, time to put the kettle on!
Glad to hear your fast went well! 600 is a win, as far as I'm concerned  Mine was successful as well. I won't meet my revised goal for this week but hopefully will have lost the pound I wanted to lose last week, at least, come Saturday morning's weigh in.
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Steph i am so glad Adam's operation is over and hopefully he will recover quickly. It must have been quite difficult for you. Well done for a successful fast yesterday. My fast today was OK I had three pieces of fruit late morning and half a can of tomato soup (left over) in the afternoon. When I got home I had two boiled eggs and lots of vegetables. i should go to bed now because I am hungry now.

DH has to go away for work so I am thinking of fasting on Sunday which I have never done before. I usually only fast at the office when I am not around my fridge or freezer or larder. I might be able to pull it off as I am planning to join my rambler's group for a 6 mile walk. I will make some excuse why I can't join them for the usual pub lunch as I could not bear to sit there and watch everybody eat.
Anyway I hope we both manage our eating day well tomorrow and stay under TDEE If we manage a couple of good fasts and non fast days we will be back in the groove again and you shall be 128lbs
Take care - BIG HUG

Hello Ieramul,
finally we have some sun, even if it is just peeking out from behind the clouds every now and then. I've come in from a lovely walk along the train tracks. Heard some cardinals singing in the trees and watched a hawk soar on the updrafts. Gorgeous day. I may go out again later. I'm trying to get outside more and take walks. I feel so dismal when I don't.
Glad to hear your fast went well! :like: :victory: Going to bed hungry isn't always pleasant, though. Fasting on Sunday sounds like a good plan for you as long as you don't go to the pub. That would certainly be difficult and you don't need to be tempted. Do you have more gardening to do to keep busy after your walk? or have a good book to read?
I haven't lost any real weight since last week :(. Not surprising with all the ice cream I ate yesterday, Yes I gave in! ate half the tub. Now that Adam is hungry he's finished it off and is asking for me to buy more. I'm leery of doing so, though, because I'm afraid I will eat it. I've not been tempted today, thanks to all I ate yesterday. I am trying to get back in the groove of eating healthy foods rather than treats. When I eat sweets or salty snacks I go overboard and keep eating. Seems to be a common problem! I've ordered a book from the bookstore called "Food Junkies" which talks about food addiction including binge eating. I'm very keen to read it but must wait a week for it to arrive. :( I'm hoping it will have some strategies I can use.
I made myself some Pad Thai for supper last night and tonight will have rouladen I've taken from the freezer. My goal is to eat at least one decent meal everyday and stop my bingeing. The Pad Thai was really good but then I started on the darn ice cream! Anyway, I want to work really hard this week to lose some weight. It is still possible to get to 128 lbs by the end of the month if I commit myself to eating properly and fasting. How are you on the weight front? maintaining?
Enjoy the day! big hug!

Good morning Ieramul,
How goes the fast? Did you enjoy your long walk? I can't imagine walking 6 miles, but then I have flat feet (which hurt if I walk to far) so I have to take a number of shorter walks to reap the same benefits you do. Do you walk in the country? up hills? how many people are in your walking group?
I slept in today and woke to some lovely sunshine. It feels like spring again and I will be going out to sit on the front step while I have my morning tea. I will go for another walk along the tracks and maybe through a park to see what flowers are blooming there. I should really do the housework I put off doing yesterday too
I ate well yesterday, resisted the ice cream and didn't gain an ounce, thankfully. Maybe eating well again today will result in a little loss. I will be fasting again tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. Funny how that is.
Enjoy the day and your ramble  Thinking of you on your fast day. I know you can do it!
:clover:

Hi Steph, sorry for the long silence but we had problems with the internet over the weekend. It always happens when hubby is away.

The ramble was glorious, sunshine and wonderful countryside and of course a good natter with lots of lovely people. It was quite windy which is a bit of a problem for me because I have very dry eyes and my eyes (and nose) just run and run and I have to dab my face with a tissue all the time. As my eyes had got worse over the last week I thought it might be due to the sugar uptake but last night I decided to take antihistamines and eye gel as I look like a very miserable crying so and so. I think it is working a bit already although I believe it takes some time.

I didn't fast on Sunday, I am afraid. I had taken some left over food (stir fried chicken and veg) out of the freezer to make some space and didn't want it to go to waste. I declined the pub lunch and went home and had my very healthy meal just to destroy it with finishing off all the left over Easter chocolates and two bowls of raspberry jelly and later on all the caramels of one of the chocolate eggs my son left behind.

Well now there is nothing left and I started with a clean slate. I had a successful fast yesterday of around 500 cals and this morning I had a couple of slices of home made bread (from freezer) with cream cheese and jam (very little jam though) I joined the DODO challenge and so I will be fasting again tomorrow. Last week I only fasted twice, so this week I want to do three good fasts. I can't do every other day because of the weekends.

BTW, I burn about 160 cals per hour when walking so our 3hr ramble burned off just under 500 cals. I walk mainly for the health benefits. I have read that people who walk and go out and about also stay healthy mentally and appear younger. I walk every day in my lunch hour for about 50-60 minutes (1/3 of it uphill) and it gives me an additional 150 - 160 cals to burn off. It does make a difference as my sedentary (couch potato) TDEE is about 1300-1350. By walking every day, my TDEE is between 1450 and 1500 cals per day.

Has Adam recovered fully? Are you feeling the spring weather? Oh how it changes everything. Take Care and BIG HUGS

Hi Ieramul, I am envious of your daily walks, only because I fail to do the same. I used to walk every day but haven't yet got back into it. Mondays and Wednesdays I try to get to the YMCA for a 45 minute light exercise class. I went yesterday and Saturday and Sunday I went out walking twice. I am slowly getting back in the groove thanks to the absolutely lovely weather. It was sunny and warm in the morning yesterday, rained at night and it is once again glorious this morning. I woke up sneezing, though, and am hoping my allergies haven't started already! They usually last a couple of weeks in the spring when the lilacs bloom. Rather early to have them before the trees are in are flowering, though.
Congrats on your successful fast! I sort of completed a fast yesterday coming in around 600 calories. I was hungrier than usual. I resisted the ice cream all weekend and am proud of myself. I must not have any today as well! I hardly lost any weight overnight but if it eat within my TDEE allowance today maybe tomorrow's weigh in will be better. My TDEE is around 1440.
I'm off to the school this morning to work with the little darlings. Last week I came home early because they had an assembly which I didn't want to go to. The teachers don't need me at the assemblies as the kids all sit on the floor quietly.
Adam is doing well although he is staying home from school again today. His gums are still sore and his teeth are coated with plaque because he isn't brushing. Ick. I hope to convince him to do so today. He didn't want to go to school because he says there isn't anything he can take for lunch. Tomorrow he has said he will go to school no matter what. It takes him such a long time to eat anything other than ice cream and yoghurt and he sure can't take ice cream to school! Hopefully, he will eat some noodles today.
Well, gotta go and I'm blathering on here :c). Take care, enjoy the day! and lots of hugs.

Hi Ieramul, wanted to wish you a good fast day! I was silly today and ate some ice cream even though I said I wouldn't. It is all gone now, thankfully, and I told Adam I won't buy any more. He just ate some mac and cheese so he is on the mend. That is the most solid food he's had since Friday! I don't know how he managed not to be hungry. Ice cream can't be all that filling :) for very long.
I won't be eating tomorrow until 4 p.m. and am hoping I won't binge when I get home. It would be nice to have a reasonable eating day.
Have a wonderful day! :clover:

 :clover: Good luck with your (our) fast. We can make it. I made a lentil/carrot stew last night, which I intend to eat mid to late afternoon. I might even add a frankfurter to make it really filling. At supper time I might just opt for some raw vegetable with a little dip. I have already cut them up into small bite size pieces and the dip consists of quark and a bit of creme fraiche with herbs and seasoning, so not too calorific.

Have a splendiculously wonderful day. and dont' forget to take care and BIG HUG
