I only really have one evening 'do' to go to and I'm tempted to wear the same dress as last year, it's a size 16 but very clingy so it won't be baggy but I think it might gape around the neck/armpits. The alternative is to wear a black dress I have from the Gap but it's also a size 16 and a bit baggy. I'd take the hem up a notch because I think it's a slightly frumpy length. It would need a cardi or jacket though as I'm not keen on showing off my crepey arms (until it gets so hot I have to, and by that time I'll be less self-conscious anyway!)

I did go clothes shopping yesterday for the first time this year (I don't like clothes shopping but when I do I tend to shop on the internet) and it was quite a mission. I wasn't impressed with what M&S had to offer. I did try on some things in Zara (I've only ever bought 3 things in there in about 20 years but 2 of them are still favourites. For a High St chain I just find their things are different and have a well-made feel to them. It's my ambition to fit into their size Medium). There was a lovely petrol blue dress in Large (officially a 14 I think) but it was just a bit too 'bodycon' close fitting for comfort! I did feel like Nigella in it though! If there had been an XL I would have bought it!

The other thing I'm considering is not to buy any new clothes at this stage but to have what I've got altered. I can take up a hem, but I wouldn't trust myself to alter the tailoring on a dress to fit my shape better.

Love the dress Karen! My Christmas if fairly low key this year so I bought some silver thread trousers (size 12) back in October and a red, back button, really flashy floral jumper as an incentive for Christmas.....the trousers fit like a dream, the jumper is a tad baggy, but with a belt it will look good. This year I won't be a lumpy,'sack of potatoes'!

Oh the joy of being slimmer. :victory: :party:

I hadn't really thought about a Xmas dress. I'm afraid all my dresses are too big now. Maybe I'll wear my new size 6 (US) skirt. Most of the family won't dress up anyway...

@Domane you look fab!!

Lovely colour, Minsmum!

This is the one I have ordered

The only possible drawback is that I'm long in the body, so if the waist sits in the wrong place on me, it's going back!

:heart: Not much going on for us other than small family get togethers ( most family go to warmer climes lucky people )
However as you all know I got rid of everything so all my clothes are new and although I said I wasn't buying to much I have to say I've gone overboard, one top I couldn't resist was an aspirational one that I posted I'd wear for xmas so must try on again sometime soon, my celebrations start this weekend and I'm so excited because I will be able to wear a skirt for the first time in about 3 years that's because my very bad foot swelling problem is so much better and all my sandals are about to come out and get a polishing !!!!! :heart: :heart: :heart:

This is just the icing on the cake for me I just can't put my true feelings into word right now because of the happy tears that are welling up :heart: :heart: :heart: :heart: :heart:

So new outfit deffo :heart: recycled sandals deffo :heart: and one of my 3 skirts that haven't gone to charity yet!!!! :heart:
Watch it snow on Saturday as I've not bought new black boots to replace all my oldies that the C/shops have hopefully gained by clear out before I found this
amazing WOL :heart: :heart: :heart: Party meal number 2 next week another new outfit :heart: :heart: :heart: :heart: :heart:

Wow lovely dress Karen :like: :like:

I have a dark green indian cotton dress with a velvet bodice that I bought years ago and which was a firm favourite. Haven't been able to get into it for years but couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. Hoping it will be my Christmas day dress - maybe with some red tights with it for the full Christmas effect!
