We are going to look so, so lovely! How marvellous!

This thread is an inspiration! Today I'll go into the "party outfits" section of my closet and try everything on. Secretly I really want that Oriental Mandarin dress from Sainsbury's. I don't think I can get it from Central NY. I may find myself at various places around here trying on age-appropriate (mother of the bride-type) stuff. The outfit from my son's wedding 6 years ago is sure to be too big now. :)

OH wants me to go out shopping today! Is he nuts! Weather alert, freezing rain predicted til tomorrow am and our laundry hampers are overflowing.

Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on everyone's "new look"

I must go shopping for a party dress now I have read this thread as inspired by your beautiful images. I usually hide my legs but now they are slimmer I might be braver and give them the light of day with some help with 'summer glow'.

Upon reflection my Christmas clothes have usually been day wear of either linen silks and cotton tops worn over linen trousers. Time to be more glam, thanks for the ideas

@MaryAnn size 6 skirt!!! Woohoo!!!! :like: :like: :like: :victory:
And @Pist1958 you've reached maintenance! And by your birthday!!! :clover:  :victory: Wow! You go girl!!!
And thank you to all of you beautiful ladies who have gone to the effort to show us pictures of your dresses and you in your dresses- so beautiful. Thank you!
As for me, I am looking forward to seeing relatives I haven't seen since March 18 kgs ago. Due to my bad varicose veins I can't wear a dress or skirt so I will wear long slim black pants and go and find a glam v neck sleeved shirt.

Julieathome wrote: We don't normally dress up for Christmas, except for new jumpers etc that people have bought us. But this year I am going to shock everyone and wear the long skirt I was given by a lovely 5:2 member as I now have boots to wear with it.

I have managed to persuade my son to try on some old t'shirts he has in size 3XL and he's looking fab in them. He's been wearing his trusty old 5XL t'shirts and looking like Homer Simpson in the episode where Homer puts on weight and ends up wearing a dress. 5:2 hasn't helped him much weight wise, but now he's exercising as well he's toning up and I expect some good news for him with the scales. He better had, I've bought him a new wardrobe of clothes in a smaller size for Christmas.

Oh i love that Simpson episode where Homer wears a " mumu" coz he gets so fat..think it might be the same episode where he gets the " reaching stick " so he doesnt have to get up from his chair!
Long skirt and boots sounds kinda elegant and slinky Julie! Great stuff..
I have been given a pair of jeans which fit nicely, first time in years i have worn jeans..tho won't wear for crimbo..i still not happy enpugh about my treetrunk legs to wear anything other than trusty black trousers at xmas..but the good news is, i am spoilt for tops now coz lots that were tight now fit nicely! Lovely colour, Minsmum!

This is the one I have ordered

The only possible drawback is that I'm long in the body, so if the waist sits in the wrong place on me, it's going back!

Penny is this one of the things that were too big?
Are you going to try the twelve coz its such a pretty dress..and i love anything spotty! X

@janeg I am sorry but I have totally pinched your Grace Kelly dress!

Drove to Sainsburys yesterday and they had my size and it is gorgeous!
I might post a piccie later as I am wearing it to my work Christmas party tonight. Now as long as you are not attending the Sheffield City Hall this evening we won't have one of those moments!! xxx
