@CandiceMarie, you certainly have 'star quality' anyway, you look so happy and full of joie de vivre! xx
no snow if you choose to view in mobile style...
Love the snow. My grandchildren have been playing on my iPad, so first thoughts were "what have they been doing now".
Well that's a first, snow here on a 30 degree day. Thanks Moogie that's lovely

Hey thats lovely pic Candice!! :geek: :like:
Sorry to be a spoil sport, the snow is very pretty and I loved it at first but I can't stay here for more than a few minutes at a time. My head feels as if it is spinning and I start feeling sick so I just look in for a short time now and then. I tried switching to mobile as @carorees suggested but find it difficult to find my way around the forum although that might be because of the nausea.
Sorry, gotta get out of here again...
carorees wrote: Ah @johncs2013 but you said "a week ago" not "to go" the first time!

That must have been a typo, as I did mean to say a week to go. Therefore, I can only give my sincere apologies for that.
I'll set up a no-snow option of some kind... Up to my desk I go!
bear with me if any errors while I sort out the snow effects on/off option!
I must admit I first of all went to brush the fluff off my screen   . I love snow and we never get it here so I am happy to have it "cyberly" Thanks moogie :like:
johncs2013 wrote: The snow on the forum website looks really good, especially as that is likely to be the only chance of seeing any snow here over Christmas, going by the latest weather forecasts. Here in the UK, our winters tend to be rather mild for the latitude which we are at, and that is due to weather systems coming in off the Atlantic and bringing in mild south-westerly winds from the tropics.

That doesn't mean that cold winters can's happen here but for that to be the case, you need to have the Siberian High extending towards Scandinavia. When that happens, that area of high pressure will then often extend further out towards Iceland and Greenland. As that happens, it then blocks those Atlantic weather systems from reaching us, and feeds in cold easterly winds from the near continent.

That is where our best chance of snow comes from at this time of year, but that Scandinavian High is missing this year, and that means that there is nothing in place to stop those weather systems from bringing in that mild air. Furthermore, the latest computer forecast models are showing no signs of that situation changing any time soon and as a result of that, and with Christmas Day now being just over a week to go, it is unlikely that we will be seeing any sort of white Christmas here in Scotland this year.

It might be different in your part of the world and indeed, I have heard that there has been a lot of cold snowy weather in parts of the USA and Canada. However, this website is providing us with the only chance of seeing a little bit of snow in the meantime and so, I'm happy enough to make the most of that.

As you will see above, I have now edited my original post on this thread, so that it now says what it was meant to say in the first place. I hope that this now clarifies matters a great deal and once again, I apologise for any confusion that this might have caused.
The site looks fantastic! Well done Moogie, awesome job :like: Very Christmasy now
OMG we have snow drifts piling up! thanks Moogie x
And you've done another quick change @CandiceMarie! Lovely smile!
Thank you Moogie, I don't want to spoil this lovely winter wonderland for everyone else, I can't understand why I feel so queasy each time I visit. It's like being on a boat. Whoops, here I go again.
