How exciting @PeonyBlue And yes clever and brave making your own wedding gown, congratulations to both of you for your forthcoming big day
Both dresses are absolutely beautiful but my personal favourite
is the first one the one I'd choose for me. :clover:  :like:
Thanks for your comments everyone (and LOL about glued hems @scubachick - is it telling to admit that I keep wearing trousers with safety-pinned hems that I never get round to fixing? I hate hemming!) And @Wolfie - great to hear of your sewing experiences...but were you not happy with your dress? What happened?

I'm kinda leaning to the second design myself - I tried on a few dresses mid year and I was surprised to find that sort of very fitted hourglass silhouette worked for me. The design for the first dress was knocking around in my head when I was several sizes bigger and thought I'd need something that floated over the curves more. A lot may come down to finding the right fabric...lace or chiffon...

Interesting thought on the bolero, @janeg - I hadn't thought if that...it was just going to be a sheer dress over an under layer. I dislike my chubby upper arms, so I think even if I had a little jacket on I'd never take it off, even if it was stinking hot! I love the idea of a cape instead of a veil - I think if I were having a winter wedding I'd love something like that. But I'm having summer in Adelaide (not as humid as Brissy at least!)
Thanks for sharing this with us - what an honour! You are so talented! I prefer no 2. I got married the second time in Sri Lanka which was very hot and humid so I had a halter neck dress - my arms aren't great but they didn't look too bad on the day after quite a concerted effort in the gym and I was just grateful I wasn't any hotter than I already was! Please keep us updated on this project! Xx
Both designs are gorgeous. I envy your talent at drawing and sewing; I'm rubbish at both :) My husband designed my wedding dress, a sort of medieval style with long sleeves. He did a quick sketch and a local dressmaker made it up. I got married on December 29th on a cold, wet, drizzly day so my dress and the bridesmaids dresses were velvet in an effort to be a bit warmer. Looking forward to seeing the project proceed :) x
How exciting! And I have so much respect for you for making that special dress yourself, as a work of creative self expression. Weddings have become such huge displays of consumerism for so many. Yours will be so much richer for being so personal!
Congratulations, what a truly talented lady you are. Both drawings are exquisite but I loved the second one. I am so looking forward to seeing this all coming to fruition and of course the photographs on your big day. Good luck,

Ballerina x
Many congratulations on your forthcoming wedding PeonyBlue & how impressive & clever of you to make & design your own dress. I prefer your second one because it gracefully curves over the body . If you wanted to cover your arms a light chiffon cape or kimono could drape from your shoulders? Kimonos seem to be in fashion at the moment! I bead as a hobby & some beautiful ones are available online & just a few crystals can add interest on light weight material & create a unique look. :rose: :rose:
Congrats PB! I like #2 the best, but both are lovely.
Found this thread and must say dress design no 2 after seeing your pic
Wow! I am SO impressed with anyone that can create such wonderful outfits. I can't even sew a button on!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. New Years Day? How romantic! Can't wait to see the final outfit. Very exciting!

I can't sew anything either @nursebean ..if i sew a button it falls offf..if i put up a hem,it drops down again
Oh goody...I'm glad I'm not the only one
So far today I haven't sold a bean
Some days are just like that unfortunately,Bean  x
Never mind, take the time to take it easy to make up for all the days youve worked so hard on yr Ebay stuff
The punters will come flooding in again..Christmas is coming and Santa will need lots of toys to fill up his sack! X
I suppose you're right but this is the first day I haven't sold ANYTHING. And just when I've bean made a Power Seller! How bizarre
