Oh, what awful news Irene.

Our thoughts are with you and your family. Hopefully he'll respond to the treatment and you'll all come through this stronger as a family.

So sorry to hear the news Irene. I lost a loved one to throat cancer 6 years ago, but can also say that the other few people I know who have had it have made fantastic recoveries. Here's sending best wishes to you and your family at this difficult time and wishes for a swift recovery for your son. If you need a bit of support (and I don't mean relating to 5:2, totally understand you putting that on the backburner now), we're all here for you.

*hugs*

Oh Irene, I canny even find the proper words to reply to your post...
I'm so sorry to hear your sad news!!!
But I must agree with Evie and say that your son has a tough journey ahead of him but he will finish it as a winner and I'm sure that you will offer endless support, like all mums do when we need them.
I totally understand that the last thing in your mind will be food but please drop by from time to time, even if you don't follow 5:2. A quick hello, a chat, might help you go through this bad time.

I too was so sorry to read your post Irene, what terrible news. It puts everything else into perspective for all of us. However they do amazing things nowadays and cancer is not the one-way ticket it once was so here's hoping for some brighter times ahead for you and your son and family.

Thinking of you and yours. Use all the help you can get to stay strong, you can't do it alone and don't have to. Drop by if you can, it'll be good for us all. Hugs to mammie so you can pass them on.

Hi Irene,
Sorry for your bad news. If it means anything, my Dad is stage 4 going on 3 years. Oral cancer is tough but so many treatment advances are available. When he was diagnosed, I lost 25 lbs from stress, and wish I did something more controlled to manage my diet. I'm one week on 5:2 as when my stress subsided, the weight did come back, so consider doing this for YOU regardless?

There's an outstanding support group for oral cancer, google: Oral Cancer Foundation. IT has been a lifesaver for our family in understanding the disease and a great group of people. PM me if you'd like more info, feel for you as I know this disease too well.
