Levi do a range of Demi curve, curvy and super curvy jeans (hip to waist ratio) which are excellent and better priced. I had a pair but slimmed out of them last year and gave them away... Other than that, I've always altered or had mine altered, and eventually gave up. I own ONE pair of jeans now which are from next and are 13 years old and a size too big. I keep them because they have a lot of happy memories attached, and also because in the winter I can wear long johns under them and true around bonfires and woods nice and cosy

I had wondered about NYDJ, available on TV shopping here in Tasmania but no where else, over $230 per pair, very expensive!

The most important thing when you have jeans with stretch is to never use fabric softener when you wash them. If you do, you'll kiss them goodbye in less than a year.

LOL, I was so pleased to get the gap between my thighs back after losing my 6kgs. I'm not pear shaped, but quite like Mango jeans for the fit and length (I'm tall). You just have to keep trying I'm afraid, there isn't a one size fits all with jeans as we all have such different shapes.
Just looking at M&S shape wear. Which ones do you have TML13? Mine seem to make me really hot, or they ride up or they have massive seams that show through my clothes. Had this issue just last night! Tried on four different pairs and none of them were right!!
I know this is a tangential and impractical reply, but... when you have a non-standard body shape and struggle to find ready-to-wear that fits, taking up sewing (if you end up liking it) can be an amazing experience. Takes some time to develop the skills so yeah, it only works if you find it enjoyable, but once you've learnt a bit it is really liberating finally having clothes than fit and flatter! Another option is to have a professional dressmaker make you a pair of jeans. Yes, it will be expensive, but you can have them custom-made to your specific measurements and stylistic preferences, and if you have them made from a high-quality denim they should be a wardrobe staple that lasts for many years. You could even ask for a copy of the adjusted flat pattern so you can have more made any time...!
Morning, Pirateship!
I'm looking at the website and I can't find mine exactly (perhaps they discontinued it? Arrgghhhh) but these two are similar:

You need to sacrifice firm control over invisibility... ;-)

Really? Why's that? Does it damage the fabric? I never knew that! Wish I'd read this post earlier, I just washed a pair of jeans with softener this morning >.<;;

In good news, I went shopping for a few bits yesterday and tried some jeans in Matalan - the second pair I tried on actually fitted pretty damn well and were only a tenner! May have to buy another pair. They're not quite hipsters but they're not up to the waist, and they hold my muffin top in quite nicely :D Really pleased!
Apparently, it damages the elasticity of the fabric. You wear them, they are fine, and after a few hours they get really saggy.

Good news for your new jeans! As we say in Greece, may you wear them in good health! :-)
Glad you've found some jeans to finally fit Moogie!

I've had similar problems over the years - very small waist (even when I was 13 stone - the weight just always went on round my thighs and hips) and 'athletic' thighs and calves.

I've found Next jeans to be pretty good over the years - to my amazement I've recently even bought a pair of their £20 'slim' fit jean, and for the first time in my life that actually looks more slimming/flattering than a bootcut fit.

If you've also thought you'd never fit into skinny jeans - they also do a 'relaxed' skinny fit which is dead comfy and flattering to the lady wot is larger of thigh
Funnily enough, I just ordered a pair of the next 'relaxed skinny' jeans last night! Gt them today and they are FAB! Ok, they are a little lower in the rise than I would ideally like (I'm very long in the rise but have short legs) but comfy and flattering. Good price too :like:
I'll have to order some of those Next ones as the Weymouth branch has closed down :( No doubt I can get some Quidco cashback from the purchase tho!

Also eventually builds up as scum in the machine. Just use a little white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser, seems to work just as well.

WD on finding jeans - I second the rec. for sewing your own. Much better quality fabrics & you can get a great fit.
Wish I was enough of a seamstress to make my own! Unfortunately my limit seems to be *very* basic alterations like shortening legs on things and not much else.

As for the conditioner building up in the machine, I like to use soda crystals every couple of months on a nice hot 'whites wash' to clean out the drum & pipework :D
I swear by Tru Luxe. It's an American label aimed at the same market as NYDJ but it's much cheaper. We can get them here in NZ so I expect they will be available in the UK. I prefer their jeans to NYDJ.
Moogie, what are soda crystals and where in the machine do you out them?
