Oh dear poor you MaryAnn. I hope your surgery goes/went well! & concentrate on your arm healing well. But instead of running could you speed walk? perhaps that wouldn't jolt your arm so much as well as cycle? but take care. :clover:

Thanks everyone so much for all of your concern and support. In the end my appointment today was just to schedule my surgery. my surgery will actually be tomorrow. I was lucky to get an appointment so quickly.

Hi MaryAnn - Snap, almost - I fell off my bike this morning unable to get a foot free at standstill. Hip and left wrist took the impact, only noticed the wrist was swelling during the cafe stop, having attended to the grazed elbow.
Don't think there is anything to break in a wrist, just small bones being displaced in a net of cartilage, but will keep an eye on it over the next couple of days.
I feel your pain! How are things going for you?

Thanks again for your well wishes, everyone. I had the surgery last night- that's Tuesday night in Japan. I'm still in the hospital. I think the surgery went well so I'm hoping it's just a precaution. I think longer hospital stays in Japan are pretty typical. The doctor seems a bit concerned about some swelling but he hasn't acted like it's out of the ordinary. I'm in the biggest pain now but I'm hoping it won't last too long.

Hi MaryAnn - now in plaster, I have fractured my radius at the wrist, an almost identical result to yours. Partial cast applied because they told me I would not be allowed to fly with a full cast (on holiday from Saturday)... Apparently this is not quite correct but no matter - either way I am not going to be able to swim, and this is the first time we were going somewhere with warm water!
Should be able to run in a couple of days, though...

Oh dear Pete. I hope you get well soon and enjoy your holiday in spite of the cast. I wish I could run, I'm still not up to it yet. The post op pain is finally subsiding though.
