Delighted or Disappointed?

33 posts Page 2 of 3
Read your inspiring story of a year ago, you were amazing over Christmas and look at all you have achieved in a year. Am sure it will be just a blow out and you will be back on track in no time.

All the best with the fluid fast as I find it a much better fast to get the hunger switch to stay in the off position
Good on you for saying it out loud Moogie. You've done it, you've said it and now you can put it behind you and get back on track. Don't feel bad about it because you are taking control. I think we all have the same problem (eating out) with xmas on it's way. I think there will be a lot of 16:8ing going on over the next few months. Good luck hun and enjoy your social events.
Dee :)
Hi Moogie
I know exactly how you feel. This year we have had a succession of lavish 60th birthday weekends and on this weekend just gone 2 social occasions that involved more alcohol and 'bad' food than usual. It is so frustratiing when successful fast days are sabotaged by these episodes. On the other hand it means you have lots of friends who want to spend time with you. It makes me feel better to know that even you are not immune to the occasional weakness. You know you can get back on plan as we all can and we will all get there in the end
Oh Moogie, I am SO glad you posted this because it makes me feel so much better about my own blowout at the weekend!! I find it some weird comfort that others are struggling...

I agree with everything everyone has already said to you. We all have moments of weakness. I'm now realising that it is having the strength to GET BACK ON TRACK that is the best part now. The "feel-good" of following up a slip off the wagon with a few good days. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE STRUGGLING AT THE MOMENT!!! It kinda helps to know that there are others going through the same torment of emotions and fight of willpower.... it MUST be the change in the weather!!

Publicly admitting your blip will help to get you back on track... it has worked for me....

Stay strong xxxx
I concur with all the posts above Moogie, so won't repeat any of it apart from my encouragement for you to jump back on board the wagon - isn't it absolutely fabulous having all these people watching out for each other - grab our hands Moogie and jump back on board
Good for you admitting the blow out. So did I on Friday. Went to a quiz night planned for after supper. Drank far too much wine and as a consequence grazed constantly on all the snacks that people had brought to the table. And they weren't even very nice, so seriously not worth it.

It is so helpful when someone else says they're struggling.
Hey there:

Been there, done that: 5-2-diet-chat-f6/the-scale-tale-t7660.html Hopefully the fast on, fast off theory will prevail!

Everyone should read (and think about) your post. Many lessons in there that you know, but many don't.

Carry on!
Thank you for sharing Moogie. I think it's really helpful to read others' (all too familiar!) struggles! I'm sure the blow-out was not as bad as you imagine and after a couple fasts, you'll be back on track!
Aw Moogie, big hugs and chin up! Now you've bared your soul I hope you're feeling better and will take comfort from all the messages of support on this thread. Life would be very boring and dreary without us being able to occasionally kick over the traces and let rip so now you've filled your boots you know exactly how to remedy the situation.
Bet you're soon losing again and back on track.
 :star:
Well Moogie, as long as you're only 'disappointed' and not too down about it, then it'll just help you ramp yourself up again and get back on the 5:2 train. The beauty is that at this point you know that 5:2 gives you what it takes mentally not to let the inevitable slips, blips and can't-be-helpedses knock you too badly off course.
If it helps, I was in Lanzarote with friends all last week and did pretty much the same thing :-) Reading your vent was like venting myself (eeeuw, horrible image), so thanks! Onwards!
Moogie, thank you for your honest, wonderful post. I've been following your blog in the past, and now I'm reading your post. I think just the fact that you're not really gaining - that you're maintaining - says a lot about this way of eating. After reading your post, I thought to myself "gee, maybe I should look into the every other diet day thing, but I know that's not sustainable, and I could never live that way. I'd end up binging and gaining for sure. I have a lot to lose and not one to really give advice because of it, but I say just hop back on board and try to eat mindfully on the non-fast days. That's the best any of us can do without resorting to counting calories every single day. We've found a plan we can live with; that's what's important in the end. Oh, and maybe doing 3 fast days once in a while like Dr. Mosley recommended in his book?

Just hop back on Moogie! You are still a true success!
Moogie have to agree with@Azureblue here, autumn feed syndrome!!
I completed mine last week, but, refuse to feel guilty about it. Did it make me feel any better? No not really, but it's out of my system now and I'm having an easy fast today.
Don't worry that it's the return of the old ways, it doesn't sound like it, just sounds like there was food to be consumed and you rose to the challenge! Well done! Now just get back on the fasting wagon.

I think afs has a lot to answer to. The change in weather makes us eat more, that my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I ate cake cos its raining :) x
A blow out like that on some other weight loss plan like WW would be horrendous to fix, but this is 5:2. Much easier fixed. So no more stressing Moogie it will all even out

Human-beings are so mean to themselves aren't they

Everything's already been said by others. But I just wanted to say thank you; you inspired me.

Keep on keeping on :like: at least you're nipping it in the bud :clover:
As has been said, it happens to us all! You are being very sensible and honest about it Moogie, so I don't think the carb creep monster has a chance!

PS in a week's time, I will have a week of at least five meals out ... from meals with friends to a big birthday bash ... So it might be me here in a couple of weeks   but I will be taking heart from all the advice here, if I end up eating too much ...
