I think you're getting the idea. You have to feel that its manageable. I tried really hard but 5:2 just didn't suit me at all. I would struggle through the day only to blow it as soon as food hit my lips! I hated getting up to a fast day too. I've never been that bothered about breakfast so 16:8 does me nicely. I don't know if its the psychological thing about being able to eat what I want after 2pm but I don't go off the rails the same way. I do have to eat low carb though because of my health probs so maybe that's why it works better for me. Its no good if you feel constantly deprived because the stress alone can make you hold the weight.
Thanks miffy, may give 16-8 a go again soon.but tomorrow I plan to just eat
We are going on holiday soon and plan to do 16-8 then as it seems manageable
Well done Sarahg in that fast day. Am sure you will have it sorted now, enjoy your holiday, and keep us posted :clover:
Well done on getting back on track. :like: I too was wondering if you were trying to fast too much as it seemed you were following a 'failed' fast with trying again the next day and 16/8. Not only did you feel you were on a permanent fast - you actually were! As you were exercising too I expect you weren't eating enough anyway. Going back to basics is always a good first step so Good Luck with the simplified eating. :clover: And have a wonderful holiday.
Holiday is in three weeks so tht will a) give me enough time to get back into the rhythm of fasting 5/2 and b) hopefully lose a bit of weight
Don't concern yourself with losing any weight, just think about getting back into the swing of fasting for the mo on straight 5:2 :clover:

In other words, just concentrate on a) and ditch b) !!!
Hi Sarah i am new here so i dont know you from last time round Nice to meet you..
Just want to say well done on getting back on track with your fast today, and good luck in the weeks ahead! You can do it girl! We will make it sooner or later,by hook or by crook..plenty of helpful advice and support here to help us along the way X
Thanks candice and welcome
I started this WOE in May and at first I lost nothing and then suddenly I lost the few kilos I had been struggling to lose for years. I did not have a lot to lose but for many years I had tried every single diet known and just could not budge that middle age spread.5-2 is the only thing that worked for me.however I got stuck and couldn't lose the last kilo,so started trying different things and ended up not really fasting as you may have seen from the above and then the weight started creeping back. BUT yesterday was good ,thanks to,all the support I did my first fast in months ,woke up starving and had my first breakfast in months.
I had to force myself to eat cos when I saw I had lost a bit of weight my first reaction was yeah let's do another fast.....bit of an eating disorder ?
Silver darling you are so right ,I need to just get back into this and not obsess about the weight
Especially as its only a kilo .for me its more about not wanting to gain it all back than abut loosing any more.
