Leaving here but happy...
11 Oct 2013, 06:44
We have decided to start trying for a baby so have to abandon 5:2 for now! A bit nervous as it has been a good safety net, easy to get back on the wagon after a bad day/week of eating.

However, have lost 10 kilos following 5:2 (not following religiously, some months a bit dodgy) and brought blood pressure down from 158/90 to 140/80 so that is great.

Just wondering about whether I should delete this account or tracker so that it doesn't interfere with the forum's weightloss stats?

Congratulations on deciding to start a family :) Best wishes to you both!

As for your account & tracker, there's no need to delete them, it won't throw the stats at all by remaining.

Congratulations on your big decision and hope you have success v soon! Also congrats on your weightloss and blood pressure results from 5:2!

There's no need to delete your account...the progress tracker is for your use; collecting stats is a secondary thing.

I do hope that you're still going to pop in from time to time and definitely share any big news!

Good luck :clover:

That's exciting news for you ... but I do wonder why you have to stop 5:2 if you're trying to get pregnant? It's contra-indicated if you're breastfeeding or pregnant, but I haven't seen anything to say you must not fast whilst trying to conceive.

Wow.. wonderful news. All teh best. come back after bubs is born!

If i may ask, and this merely my curiousity, is it undersood that any kind of intermittent fasting is deleterious to health of expectant or i guess, nursing mum?

There's no data as far as I know. Obesity certainly reduces fertility and the only studies on IF and fertility used ADF in rats (which is a much, much more severe intervention for a rat than for a human) and found that fertility was reduced, but I don't think we can assume that this is also the case for humans.

I would imagine that our distant ancestors couldn't have had much problem conceiving while in a feast/famine situation or we wouldn't be here today!
