Disappointed - Help!
22 Feb 2013, 14:22
Very Disappointed - 2nd week of 5:2 fasting. 1st week lost 2pds and now gained 1 pd. Just hope I don't gain more!.. The first week I fasted Wed and Fri and lost 2pds.. Then this week I fasted Monday and Thursday and today on my weekly weigh in I had gained a pound.. I'm just hoping this 5:2 fasting will work for weight loss.. I wasn't expecting another 2 pds but wasn't expecting to gain a pound... Maybe I'm eating too much on feast days? I'm also doing the 30 day shredder on my feast days too for exercise. Right now only counting calories on 'fast' days.. I just feel very disappointed with myself.. Any ideas or thoughts? .. Thanks!

Good Morning - Maybe try and log on feast days just to get an idea of your calories. You may be going over. I gained .4 last week and lost .4 this week. So I'm a little disappointed myself. I'm hoping my body is just adjusting to the 5 lbs loss the first week.

Have you calculated your TDEE? That's about what you should be eating on feast days, but no more.

Probably just water changes in your body, next week or the one after will show a loss. Read my thread on the scales showing an increase in the frequently asked questions section.

Does this TDEE sound right?.. I'm Male 5' 7" / 169pds / 39 yrs old / Light Exercise 1-3 days a week.. The TDEE that I calculated was 2343. So should I take that 2343 x 20% and only eat that on feast days?

Gosh I'm so confused.. LOL

25%, so divide TDEE by 4.

Ah Ok!.. So on feast days I should eat only 1757.25 then? I guess that sounds right.. Thank you Carol once again! :)

I think you should eat 2343 on Feast days and 25% of that on Fast days.

What nickims said! Feast days = TDEE; fast days = ¼ of TDEE.

Your TDEE is 2343 when you exercise. Correct? If you don't exercise, eat less.

Total Daily Energy Expenditure - basically the number of calories you burn throughout the day.

Two weeks into it, and disappointed, but what happened was, fasted last week mon, tues, then went to Paris for valentines. Didn't overeat by any means, but croissant for breakfast, baguette for lunch, evening meal with wine etc. came back Sunday, fasted mon and wed, and was careful on Tuesday. Walked a lot in Paris, but not much exercise at home, so cold, apart from Pilates class Tuesday and Friday. No weight loss, in fact an extra couple of pounds on today.
Think for me the non- fast days are going to have to be calorie counted.

Not enough time to judge. Read around, lots of people add lbs on 2nd week.
