The fatter you are, the easier it is to lose weight. You are not technically over weight, so it'll be hard to lose those last kilos. Hormones are the pits. I'm so glad I'm post menopausal and can forget about all that, but then, it's harder to lose weight I think, if you are post menopausal. You were very smart to have a bath, to pour out your heart to the forum. Hugs, and go well with the doc. xxx

Good luck with the appointment. I started to have issues with the combined pill, spotting and then bleeding for several days between "periods" and stopped it altogether. It took about a year for my system to settle down and I have been off any form of hormonal contraception for 5 years now. It is improved my health quite a bit. I hope you are able to find the right solution for your body and I hope you have a good doctor's appointment.
Hi Cags
Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time of it, everything becomes so much harder when you feel down. I agree AirIR about stress (mental and health wise) affecting weightloss, it's a protective mechanism to make sure your body has reserves to try and deal with whatever comes its way. Not much you can do about that but keep up the good work, it'll all come off when you're feeling better. As a proud owner of a Mirena coil I can honestly say they are the best invention since sliced bread (but I've not had any problems with mine); it is more difficult/uncomfortable to site the coil if you haven't had vaginal delivery, but not impossible, so definitely worth talking to your Dr (please don't let embarrassment stop you!) about.
Hope things get easier for you soon.x

Hi Cags - just saw your post, hope it goes well at the docs and they can sort you out so don't feel so crsppy - sending you a big Welsh cwtch
Hello my lovely friends - thank you so much for all being here for me it means such a lot!
So I have been to the GP - I was so embarrassed as I knew I had to mention some discomfort around my bottom!
Anyway I said everything and he felt my tummy and then examined me 'down there' ooh err sorry tmi - he said that was fine, so that's a relief - I thought I'd done damage due to constipation.
He said the period issues were wholly due to the pill and advised I make an appointment with the family planning clinic. He asked if my husband had considered a vasectomy - I said he didn't want one - my god his face, he looked quite disgusted, and just stared at me! It was awkward!
He prescribed me a months supply of Laxido sachets to help to regulate me, and told me to stop eating bananas as they cause constipation! Why didn't I know that??
So its a relief that there is nothing serious wrong - I feel a bit stupid now, but at least I know. I think I will avoid that GP in the future though
I thought I'd get these sachets on line but they are dearer than a prescription so I will have to pop back to town later - hope they do the trick!
Thanks all again so much

pleased for you - hope you are relieved, reassured and ready to face the world again.
Great news!! Sorry to get personal but have you consider a non hormonal coil? I have one and its ok
Glad you bit the bullit...and bananas causing constipation ? Not for me they dont
Hi thanks guys - maybe bananas are just not good for people who have a tendency to get constipated!
Claire thanks yes I might consider the coil - think I will talk to hubby tonight - and give the family planning clinic a go.
Jane, yes I feel so much better - I thought there was something serious wrong with me, so although I felt awkward and embarrassed it is over now and it was worth going!!

Thanks, I will see what happens after these sachets I've been given, maybe I will lose the weight I want to, I will hopefully feel less sluggish anyway! Mine is about half a stone too and I want it off!
Will you keep up 5:2? I am going to take a break for now

Do you know what? I absolutely loathe the 'view counter' on forums, and more than one I know of has ditched them as they can be quite discouraging. I don't think they serve any positive purpose really. Also, did you know that every time you yourself look art your thread, it counts a a view? Even worse! So don't be downhearted about it.
I also have tremendous problems with anything progesterone (depo injections, mirena or mini pill, plus most combined pills) and it took a lot of years and GPs before one even suggested tha the progesterone might be the cause of many of my issues. There has only ever been one pill that I have managed to take without extensive side effects, and that is Yasmin. Apparently the progesterone is different. However, it is MUCH more expensive than most other pills so not handed out as readily.
My husband knew I had problems with contraception and even before we lived together he offered to have a vasectomy at the point where we decided our family unit was complete. He knew lots of guys who had the op and that it wasn't a big deal. For him it was a no- brainer, and I think that most GPs KNOW its so much easier an option than what us girls have to go through, and that's why they look cross/aghast/disapproving when they hear about a guy that doesn't like the idea. My hubby had the snip about three years ago and it was a doddle. I am SO much better without chemical hormones messing me up! I did try the non-hormonal coil, but lets just say that delivering twins naturally and coils aren't a good mix
Oh, and I've never had any problems with bananas, and I eat a LOT of bananas. It's not unusual for me to eat two a day!
I'm hoping you've had some lovely sunshine today, and that at least your mind is at rest on the bowel front. Big hugs.

Hello thank you - I am glad you feel the same about the view counter! I soon felt better though as I got lots of replies in the end, but it was hard initially! I was really down that day.
I do feel better now, but there is still the contraception to sort out. Maybe I should look into trying Yasmin. That is a good description of how the doctor looked when I said my hubby didn't want the snip! I might try to keep working on him - I'd love to be hormone free. I am telling him that it is probably why I have such a short fuse - because I do fly off the handle at the slightest thing, although I am not argumentative I just get ratty like if I can't find something, or I'm having trouble doing something. Or that just might be me!
Thanks for the hugs x

Good Morning Cags
I had a Mirena (?) coil fitted yesterday and while it wasn't the most fun I've ever had, it wasn't too bad, a bit like a smear test really. What wasn't the best idea was going to have my eyebrows threaded as a "treat" afterwards, never done it before, but my menopausal eyebrows had got out of control - Bless her the girl gave me a loyalty card in case I ever go back
