Definitely disappointed

Good morning all.

As you can tell from the title of my post, I'm an unhappy camper. Although I am disappointed with myself and not the diet. Overall I'm finding it easy and on fast days I feel great and in control, and hubby has seen remarkable results.

My problem is the dreaded weekend, I know I eat too much especially over last week (Hence the giant rise in weight) I'm hoping it get much better after my kilo easter egg has gone as that is my biggest fault, that and nibblies, and THAT time (TMI).

Hopefully in the next few weeks there will be a drastic change, as I curb my snacking and finally dimolish that egg.

slip the egg into the bin while nobody's looking. You know you want to.

:O sacrilage it's Thorntons, my problem is I promise myself a bit then before I know I'm tearing chunks off in a frenzy :P. Down to the last frenzy peice anyways if I was to eat the whole egg in one it would be over 5000 cals O.o

"in the bin or on my belly" was the decision I had to face up to.

I'm over Thorntons personally, since someone gave me some Swiss choc for christmas.

I am terrible at weekends too! I try and be as good as possible on non fast days in the week to make up for it! I just don't have stuff in the house anymore even tho there is a shop around the corner!

Weekends are my downfall too - I try to skip lunch Fri/Sat/Sun now, so I can have a fry-up for breakfast, and go out for meals/wine in the evenings.

I've severely rationed chocolate too - I broke a green and blacks into 3 chunk pieces, wrapped each in tin foil, my kids have hidden them, and they give me one package every non-fast day I ask for one - the bar has lasted over 2 weeks and still going ! When I used to leave the bar in the kitchen, it was gone in a few days

Cheese is my downfall! I now buy Cathedral City 'Selections', which are 12g each and 50 cals! One of those and a Ryvita black pepper 'Thin' satisfies my craving and I count 80 cals as part of my daily allowance!

This year I made chocolate cake with my giant easter egg and took it to someone's house, so I only ended up with a small piece, which I think I enjoyed all the more than if I had eaten it all.

I must admit cheese is another weakness too, I love the smoked cheese!! So I have to stop buying that.

I find putting things in the fridge or freezer is good, as weird as it sounds if I don't see them I forget about them, I know somewhere in the house is a bar of baileys choclate I've had since christmas but because I can't find it hasn't "called" to me.

I understand how you feel, TayTay, even though I think it's good for you in the long run to be a bit permissive on the weekends. I overate on chocolate and candy last weekend, and I admit I didn't feel great about it.

But looking at the big picture, it's better to have a smaller calorie deficit and to feel that you aren't depriving yourself than to have a large deficit and then be unable to sustain the WoE.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I like to go for long walks in beautiful surroundings, while listening to a good audiobook. It keeps my attention to occupied with animals and flowers to look at and exciting plots to follow that I don't even perceive it as exercise, but it makes quite a difference to my calorie balance.

Have to agree TayTay. Was cleaning out the fridge on the weekend and found half a packet of Tim Tam biscuits which I had obviously forgotten! Ordinarily wouldn't even last a weekend.

There is an upside to living in Japan. They don't really do sweets, but when they do, it's in small portions.

I've found my tastes have changed considerably after being on the diet 6 weeks. I don't crave junk so much anymore. I think this happens to alot of people.

It's definitely changed my attitude to food, just on certain weeks I seem to be unable to control myself, I'm having knee problems too which doesn't help otherwise I'd be walking a lot more :(.

During the week I'm fine, thankfully I know what my problem is so I'll be trying harder to change it.

I always remember my old WW leader quoting "it's gone to waste or gone to your WAIST" it's so true, and the cost of bigger clothes is always going to more than the cost of the food you didn't eat.

There will always be more chocolate. You can throw the egg away and you WILL be able to have a smaller amount another day.

Have you considered trying a fast day over the weekend? I did one almost by accident (everyone else was away and I was very busy), and it was actually very liberating. It taught me the valuable lesson that week ends needn't be a two or three day plan busting event.

Hang in there. You know what the problem is and that's always the best way to start solving things.

Hi TayTay (which btw also is the name of a Dutch spiced sweet cake!)
Have you tried "with a little help from your friends"? It's what I do when I have a baking fit. Share the Easter egg with friends, the more the better. They will appreciate your generosity and you will get rid of temptation without having to destroy tasty food. Winwin?
After that, don't have temptations in the house, but have some alternative snacks and sweets which are healthier (dried and fresh fruit, yoghurt etc works for me).
