New plan: so far so good!
22 May 2013, 10:53
Morning peeps!

As some of you know, I wasn't losing any weight in the past 6 weeks (+/- 1 kilo) and I decided to stir things up a bit. Starting Monday, I did two days of the Dukan Diet attack phase. That is two days of eating only protein.

I did very well, even my stomach which is very sensitive coped with few complaints, although on Monday I was very (VERY) hungry. :curse:

The Dukan's website promised that I would lose 0,77kg in two days, I lost one kilo. I'm not getting too excited because it is the kilo that I've been losing and gaining since the beginning of April but I am trying to have faith that I won't gain it back this time. :clover:

Today I'm fasting and starting tomorrow I won't be counting calories. I decided to do that because I realised that the only period I lost weight was during the first 3 weeks on 5:2 when I wasn't calorie counting at all (I thought that my TDEE was around 1700 calories and I rarely go over that).

So, so far so good, I will keep you updated with my -hopefully- progress.

Cross your fingers for me, I really want to get in my summer clothes! :clover: :clover: :clover:

Fingers and toes crossed!!

I didn't lose last week, but I think that might have had a lot to do with stupid alcohol intake. I blame the funeral.

Well done TML, looking forward for your updates.

Well done TML! Funny how we all lose differently, I have been on a plateau for the last 3 weeks - coincidentally the same time I reduced my fast days down to 400 calories - so this week I am back up to 500 on fast days and will see how that goes. x

I'm following your progress too as I haven't lost an ounce since 17th April! The scales go up and down but its the same 2lbs all the time!

I've lost your original post so can you refresh my memory? I know you were going to do a couple of days of Dukan but what sort of regime do you intend to use for the food days other than not counting calories?

Thank you all!

Swedey, IME, alcohol isn't doing any particular harm as long as it's not beer or very sweet cocktails. The weekends that I spend drinking have no influence on the scales while the ones that I spend eating are disastrous...

Cakegroupy, if you can do with eating just protein a couple of days, I'll tell you what I ate yesterday and the day before. It's worth it if it's going to kickstart our weight loss!

Miffy, I generally eat the Med/Greek way because that's what I'm used to eating. I'm basically going to continue eating what I was eating, the two days was because the site suggested that I would lose more than half a kilo in two days which did happen!
I might repeat that 2 days attack again though, if I am not pleased with my progress till Sunday.

Izzy, thanks!
The attack phase is quite easy.
Monday: Omelette with low fat cottage cheese for lunch, turkey ham with low fat cottage cheese for snack, surimi (fake crab) with youghurt sauce for dinner.
Tuesday: Surimi with low fat cream cheese for lunch, turkey ham with low fat cottage cheese for snack, grilled chicken breast with yoghurt sauce for dinner.

TML, are you doing those 2 days of the Dukan and 2 days of the usual 500 cals fast or are the Dukan days going to replace your fast days?

I just started my week with two days of Dukan and then continue 5:2 as usual with no calorie counting on non-fast days. The Dukan was an experiment, hoping that it will help me start losing again!

Thanks for that.

I don't have any problem with protein days as low carb has always suited me. I just got a bit sick of never having any fruit and thought that 5:2 would be a good idea. Like you, I did OK for about the first month and then stuck. :frown: I have even considered the Harvie 2 day plan but I would want to adjust that to incorporate fasting. They have two low carb/lowish cal days but seem to advocate eating anytime. I don't want to undo the the good things I have started to notice coming off the 5:2 but I really need to shift the rest of the weight. There has to be more to it than pure calorie counting as I have run the full range from 1500C to 900 with no change to my weight loss. :frown:

I tell myself that I'm on the scenic route but I've been seriously trying to get back to a decent weight for about 3yrs now. OK, I've lost 53lbs and gone from a BMI of nearly 40 to waivering in and out of the 'overweight' range but I want to shift that last chunk before my joints pack up altogether!

Glad you're off to a good start TML - look forward to hearing how you progress

Izzy, no probs, ask away! Yes, I ate as much as I wanted but I don't fancy protein much so I didn't eat much. In fact, out of curiosity, I calculated my calories and they were 804 on Monday and 1151 on Tuesday.
No constipation but I ma taking lactulose daily!
BTW, I'm fasting today. But tomorrow it's night out with my friends at a bar that serves small pies with the drinks. YAY!

Miffy, carbs are in all my meals daily, it was just a two days exception and I'm pleased with the results so it was worth it. I will even do it again if needed, but I couldn't do it for more since last night my stomach was in a state.
Would you consider doing this for a couple of days? Or switch to 4:3?

Thanks, Suchard, I will post updates as soon as I've got something to share.

So, another half a kilo gone after the fast. Not bad at all...

I am eating today, without calorie counting and then fasting again tomorrow. I think that Saturday's weigh in will show more accurate/dependable results.

Unless the scales do a tremendous upwards correction (is that the correct term?) I'm contemplating to do this again next week or the week after the next. It's not that hard (my stomach complained only once and I felt really hungry only on day 1) and it's cheap too! Shopping for both days was around 5 quid (plus a chicken breast that I had at home)!!!

Nice one TML - sometimes the body just needs a jump-start. I look forward to your progress!

I'm in a similar position - after all my mithering about losing weight, gaining weight, having my TDEE wrong, losing hope, bingeing, not losing weight, etc. since March, I've decided basically to start again. So for the last 2 weeks I've eaten a bit less on fast days, tried to watch my weekday calorie intake, and started the 30 Day Shred. Initially I had inch loss and weight gain, but now both numbers are going down.

Here's to our continued success :)
