Delighted or Disappointed?

Just this week, I broke through a plateau I have been on since MARCH!

Back story, I have thyroid problems. My thyroid is too fast, and medicated with Methamizole to slow it down to normal. Well after six weeks of fasting, my weight loss slowed down, then stopped, and I started showing signs of slow thyroid - sure enough, my regular blood work showed my thyroid was now too slow, and they reduced my medication. This means my thryoid was healing itself, and the medication dose was too strong. Six weeks later - another regular bloodwork showed my thyroid even lower and my medication was reduced again.

Through this time, my weight was showing between 1 and 4 pounds heavier than my lowest point at the start of March, and it was so frustrating. I know that a slow thyroid makes you really pile on the pounds, so I was keeping up with the fasting and hoping to at least not gain a lot of weight back.

About two weeks ago, my slow thyroid symptoms eased up - no longer exhausted, my nails stopped splitting, etc etc etc. And finally, this week, I registered the first loss since early March! I'm down another 0.8 lbs :-)

I'm really hoping to shave off a few more pounds before our big vacation to Paris in July (and while I'll check in, I know my reports can't possibly be as entertaining as Ballerina's). I bought two new pairs of really cute jeans on sale - they were so cheap, but they're still just a wee bit tight. I can button them up and sit down, but they would look better in a 1977 disco. I'm hoping to get them to fit by July 10 :-)
That's great news Tracie! It is so frustrating when the scales aren't kind and must be even worse when thyroids and other things get involved too.
Well done you for sticking it out. You definitely deserve a :star:
Keep your eyes on those jeans and I'll try not to break Paris before you arrive.
PS do your cute jeans have a secret pocket?
Hooorah! Congratulations! I know how frustrating this journey has been for you and I'm so pleased that your thyroid is more balanced. You'll be in those jeans in no time. :like: :)
Well done, would love to see you in your cute jeans, not sure if you should put your 'secret pocket' on public display though, are there not laws against such things? I hope you enjoy Paris as much as I did, we will be back as it was imposaible to do everything in the short time we had there,

Ballerina x
Well done for sticking to your guns and working your way through the plateau. It is hard when there are underlying medical conditions that prevent weight loss but you are getting there. Woohoo!
That's wonderful news Tracie, can imagine how pleased you are! I applaud you for your patience and perseverance; here's to things keeping moving! :clover:

Brilliant! I know how hard it is to keep ploughing on when a medical condition keeps kicking you back. So glad that you are now getting some return for your perseverance.
Tracieknits what fantastic news! :victory: :like: I bet TML will be interested to hear as well , as she also has a thyroid condition .. Well done, and great about the jeans ... Get your OH to carry all the money, as you won't want anything to spoil that nice close fit, lol!
Thanks everyone!!! It really helped that DH (BruceE) has been doing so well. I didn't want to derail him or impede his progress in any way. I'm not sure I would have persevered so well without him :-)

Janeg - no secret pocket in these, but there's also no way for a pickpocket to squeeze their hands in LOL. Silverdarling - OH is a brilliant, but absentminded engineer. I may allow him to carry a few euros, but even he knows he's way too inattentive to guard against pickpockets! It doesn't help that a friend of his was relieved of his wallet and E300 at Gare du Nord. So he relies on me, my hypervigilance, secret pockets and my NYC "game face" LOL

Ballerina - LMAO - did you know it was illegal for women to wear jeans or slacks in Paris until last December? I'm excited to no longer be flouting the public decency laws with my cute jeans.
That's such good news Tracie! Hopefully your thyroid will continue to behave and you can continue to make progress. How wonderful to be going to Paris...I'll be looking forward to your updates.
Thanks! I sure hope so, but I'm prepared for it to be a long haul if my thyroid continues to get healthier until I'm off the meds completely. :-)
... Would love to know what an NYC 'game face' looks like ... Tho think I can guess, LOL!
