sorry to be a smarty-pants, but it doesn't do much for me - I can hold either the version on the hands or on the forearms, one after the other, for at least 90 seconds each- I'd rather be moving! I suspect if you don't have a lot of deep abdominal activation or strength (like wildmissus says - scooping lower abdoment towards spine), then I imagine it gets more global and therefore harder - but I could sit there for a lot longer than 90 seconds, (except that it's a bit boring) - so as a variation, you can do a kind of downward dog. Go into a plank on your hands not your forearms, then pivot your weight backwards over your feet more, so one heel is closer to the floor, at the same time lifting one leg and your bum so that they are in line with each other, then come back into plank and life the other leg - just flows more, imho. It's a variation of pyramid-to-plank, sometimes done on the reformer instead.

Wow. I'm glad that I can stay up for 20 seconds. Lol. Did another one today. Good exercise for me
Still here.....day three 30secs. Finding it easier than last year, perhaps my op was needed more than I ever realised.
I've just done day 7. Gosh it burns. And I really need a mirror to check my form!
60s. Man, that was tough! I'm glad I get to repeat this for a few days instead of increasing!
Sugar forgot again. Back to it I guess.
Darn did 4 days in a row and got home late last night and forgot completely.
Luckily day 6 is a rest day so I will take day 5 as my rest and continue tonight.

Great idea......I need reminding for sure.
Day four 30 secs
Cheers @MaryAnn, tonight is 45s for me, so far so good.
So apparently, my pinched nerve is not a spine/disc problem (phew!), but an inflamed muscle problem. I've been running a lot obviously, but I wonder if it's more likely that the plank caused it. I know the piriformis surrounds (or is next to) the sciatic nerve and it seems like the kind of muscle the plank would work. What do you think, @jools7?
In any case, I think I really need to stretch more. I might try to find a yoga class.

Thanks, CM. This is pretty much a pain in the bum and thigh, but at least it seems to be clearing up quickly.
Also in awe could not even decipher jools instructions. Love to try but think I did my hip in with HIT and still troubled but it so can only be impressed onlooker here
Me too...bowing backwards out of the tent very respectfully...the only exercise i' m getting is my mind racing right now while reading this thread! X
