Peak Fitness Program
24 Mar 2013, 09:20
Hi everyone
I'm now starting my 4th week with tomorrow being my 7th fast day, so far lost 2.5kgs
I am really enjoying the experience, apart from minor headaches on the first three fast days all is good
I have a question for the forum
Has anyone looked at or tried the Peak Fitness program
I believe that the program was created by a Dr Joseph Mercola who is also a supporter of IF
The link below will explain the program details

2 days and no response!

Back in January I decided I did not like the way I looked and that I needed to do something about it
So I began walking daily and also eating less and better
I also began the 8/12/20 routine on my exercise bike
That is after warm up (3 to 5 mins) go for 8 seconds as fast as one can, then very slowly for the next 12 seconds repeating this for 20 minutes then cool down for 5 minutes
I lost 3 Kgs in about 7 weeks
Then I discovered 5:2 after hearing Dr M on Australian radio, as the program presenter was very positive about the diet I was hooked
Starting the diet on 4th March I still believed exercise is also important. I heard of Peak fitness and began this last week on my 5th fast day repeating it again on Fast days 6 & 7
So far this month I have lost 4kgs (1.5kgs in the last week) my BMI has dropped from 25.9 to 24.6 my waist measurement is struggling at 102.5 down from 104cm but still way too high

Is Peak fitness the key or just a coincidence? Time will tell

Sorry to blabber on

Sorry Arnie, I did see your post the other day but didn't reply as exercise is not one of my favourite things! I assumed others would have some comments to make!

There are a few threads discussing the benefits or otherwise of exercise in weightloss. It seems that exercise can help weightloss in the context of a weight loss diet but is not much good on its own (though of course it's good for general health, just not weightloss). Heavy exercise can stimulate the appetite so shorter, more intense exercise like you describe is better.

So, I'm sure you're really helping things with your exercise program...well done!

Has anyone in Australia watched the tv documentary "The truth about exercise" it was screened recently on SBS I caught up with it on SBS On Demand
The program features Dr Michael Moseley (5:2 diet fame) and includes a section on "Peak Fitness" now called High Intensity Training (HIT)
A good program about exercise and how it could be affecting people differently

It sounds interesting, Arnie. For me, the important things are how I look, how I feel, how healthy I am. My weight is important only as it relates to those factors. In and of itself, it's just a number.

So exercise, for me is vitally important. I'm 64 (at least for another month ) and want to improve and maintain my quality of life. As they say, "Move it or lose it!"
