Yes like you I find this negative attitude towards anything new extremely irritating! Journalists are the worst - see this example http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/claire-omahony-why-this-years-fashionable-diet-is-just-a-faster-way-to-misery-3368942.html where the writer doesn't seem to have made any attempt to find out about 5:2 before rubbishing it.

But it's always interesting to see another point of view!

There is a lot of lazy journalism around.
