It's early morning in Western Australia. I am liquid fasting today although I don't feel it'll be that difficult as I am so stuffed full with food from yesterday.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself as I have over eaten and its not a great feeling. :frown:

Good luck to all the other fasters today!
Yes, me too Pamela. Need to not eat today as I have had a friend visiting for 5 days and although I had one low intake day the other days were OTT where food was concerned. :frown:

This morning is sunny and bright but quite cold so will keep myself busy so that I don't succumb.

Hope everyone fasting has a great day.
Cheers.
Oh I know that feeling, and yes it does make the fast so much easier

I'm also fasting today, just had a crio bru and will be on water for rest of the day - or a green tea. Lovely sunny day though, and that always makes everything okay :)
I'm finding my feet with this WOE, I know I am going to enjoy this once I can stop myself just going crazy on feed days. I have good feed days where I don't feel too out of control but other days where I just eat mindlessly then realise what I'm doing but feel unable to stop. It puts me in such a bad mood, almost as bad a mood as when I was strict Atkins, where I felt deprived and angry at being unable to enjoy a variety of food groups.

So today I am just going to try not to think about food too much by keeping myself busy. Got my dd swimming lessons today and then home to clean up and then maybe squeeze in some yoga while she has her lunch.

Happy fasting!
I know the feeling. I tend to want to overindulge on non fast days too. Fast days are easier than non fast days.
What does 36 hour liquid fasting consist of.

What kind of liquid is consumed.

Do the liquids have calories? or is it just water?

Sounds horrible and away from "purist" 5:2 / 4:3 if there is such a thing, which allows a relatively comfortable consumption of 1/4 TDEE (500 for women and 600 for men, on average) in whatever form that takes.
I'm in as usual. Have an extra long girls' weekend coming up so want to make sure to get all my fasting done before I head off on Friday. Will be indulging in five days of carefree eating and drinking and am determined to enjoy every moment! Will definitely not be doing a liquids-only fast next Monday but may skip a meal or two while I'm away if it's convenient. Time enough to get back to it when I'm home again!

Juliana, people do different things. I only have water and black coffee. There's no 'rule' that says you have to eat on your fast day; some people find it easier to go completely without food as eating can trip the hunger switch. Michael Mosley himself initially fasted without eating but thought a lot of people would find it too difficult so came up with the 500/600 calorie 'allowance'. At least that's what I recall from the documentary; I have not read his book. That's the beauty of 5:2 (or 4:3) in my opinion, that you can tailor it to suit your personal tastes and circumstances.

Have a good fast everyone! :clover:
Hi Juliana, I found that eating food on my "fast" day triggered hunger for me. I very quickly moved to just one meal, and that in the evening, and found fasts easier. Then after a few months I dropped the meal - again, because for me, it is easier to not eat at all (and not get my hunger switch flicked, plus just not think about what food to eat). I do have green tea or rooibos, sometimes a crio bru and occasionally (normally on a cold day) black tea with milk.

There are no rules though other than the usual 5:2 rules - you can have UP TO 1/4 of your TDEE. So if you wanted you could have soup or juice or any other liquid up to that amount.
@Katamac

Agree, it should be twisted and adjusted to suit. I think some people suggested water and coffee only and no meal at all which didnt sound at all like you can drink 500 calories of coffee unless it was in latte or vienna form with added milk and loads of sugar
Morning all - I am not quite a full fledged liquid faster (been doing 5:2 since April) but stopped because of illness and put all my previously lost wieght back on - wasn't much mind cuz i was such a slow loser and was having 3 small meals a day!

So I wanted to try liquid fasting and thanks to some advice from a couple of the girlies from here I'm easing myself back in with all day liquid fast then consuming my 500 as evening meal - this will be my 2nd fast like this and i have to say my first one was sooo much easier than 3 small snacks!!

I'm think i will need to do this for a few more fasts yet before being brave enough to do your 36 hour fast!

x
Morning all, I'm in today. Like others, I've had a weekend of mindless eating, so too many biscuits in particular. I feel a bit sluggish this morning so I'm glad to be liquid fasting today, Monday is always easiest.

Welcome TracE, I'll PM you later, I've had a couple of busy days! I think you are doing the right thing bu going to one meal first and once you are settled into that then going for a full liquid fast. Remember that it doesn't have to be water all day, some people benefit from having a stock cube drink during the day and a low cal hot chocolate in the evening.
I'm in today, too much beer/bbq - this time of year is terrible but I love this WOE as it still works :victory:
Hey all! I'm going to try my first liquid only fast today. I have from the start just ate an evening meal and the last couple of fasts I have felt that maybe I could go without  The weekend was full of goodies and I'm feeling great today so let the games begin!
I would love to to try this sometime soon. It sounds a little daunting to me at this point.
I am in for my usual Mondays and Thursday fasts this week.
Not working today so it will be a bit difficult. I find its best to keep as busy as possible; drink lots of water and stay away from planning meals.
I may not be on the site for a while; my PC as started to freeze after running for a few minutes and seems to be running very slow. I will try and sort it out myself but think its likely I will have to take it to the shop to be repaired.
I don't have an iphone and unlike some we can only use the works laptops for work related activities

Good luck all who are fasting today
