I stuck to my fast. So tomorrow we'll go out for a nice lunch or dinner. Weather was too grim to go out tonight.

Hi @Lizbean, I would love a maintaining buddy - thank you so much for offering to be mine - which I gratefully accept! :D
Should we create our own thread, or use the maintenance tent?
Thanks again! :)

@Sassy1. I agree with you about hunger. It is ok to be hungry on a fast day because you know it's only for today and it has a point. But being hungry at other times is wrong. It mitigates against learning to leave food on your plate because it sets up anxiety about food. You start to think you better eat every thing in sight in case there isn't enough later on. The Don't Go Hungry Diet (Amanda Sainsbury Salis) taught me that becoming aware of hunger and satiety levels is an important tool in weight loss and weight maintenance. Also it taught me to listen to what i really want to eat and eat that: so if you know you are going to have a cake, perhaps you didn't need to eat your friend's pizza. I have learned to just have an ice coffee and forget about sandwiches or other stuff, if that's what I really want. I used to think I had to have the salad or the sandwiches because that was healthy, but then I'd have an ice coffee as well, because I really wanted that. Now I can just have the ice coffee - or the cake or what ever it is. This has simplified eating out. After the iced coffee I'm no longer hungry.

You are so right, @Sallyo. :) I need to remind myself of those wise words frequently! What I shouldn't have had in fact was the cake, because I did really fancy the pizza, but ate the cake because I was there. I should have taken the cake home and shared it with OH the next day. :D

I was in today, Thursday is over, bedtime soon. Weighing in on the breakfast issue: I believed I "needed" to eat in the morning. Since I hadn't eaten due to "hunger" for a long time, it was immaterial that I wasn't hungry in the morning. With 5:2, I deliberately don't eat early in the day on light days; on normal days, I start my day with black coffee (which I adore, not a deprivation)--sometimes I eat something, sometimes I don't. I used to often eat a "preventive" meal (kinda like a preventive pee: just in case), but now sometimes actually forget to eat. Last weekend, my friend was picking me up to go skating; I planned on making an egg sandwich and eating it in the car, but he was early and I forgot. So I skated several miles without eating (no biggie) and we went for a meal a few hours later. (BTW, this friend is the one whose BMI is 35 and believes he'll starve on 5:2....)

So re: breakfast, except for light days, I just do what feels right on that day. Most of the time, I don't eat a significant meal (hee hee: I have an addiction to ww peach-apricot fig bars and will sometimes have one or two of those) until several hours after arising.
