I'm doing a week or two of 4:3 to get solidly at my goal weight (rather than just seeing it once on the scales and getting a little too excited). Today is my third fast day of the week. I've seen numbers in the 63s three times this week, so I'm thrilled, but with Xmas coming up, I'll keep fasting for now…

Is anyone else in? Good luck!
Hi MaryAnn
Yes, I am in today, also 3rd fast for week, for similar reasons to you and because I have to change my weigh-in days and want to ensure I have at least 2 fasts between weigh-ins!
I know how you feel about wanting to reach that goal weight, even tho - as others have mentioned elsewhere - it is a bit arbitrary... But great that you have seen that magic 63 :D
You have had a fantastic loss this year - you must be very pleased :)
For many of us, this will be our first Christmas on 5:2 - it will be interesting to see how we all go. Probably should start a topic after Christmas to find out how we did all go, and what strategies people used that worked.
Good luck fellow fasters! :)
You have done spectaularly well MaryAnne, I am so pleased for you!
I am attempting a semi fast today, although disappointingly from my low of 61.1kg last week, I have gone back up to 62.6kg this morning, no idea why, but very frustrating. I am trying to do 3:4 as well towards Xmas, but obviously not going so well so far!
I have just bought a charity bar of Caramello which is sitting on my desk and I am going tro see how long I can leave it there! Isn't it funny how kids' fundraisers always involved sweet, fatty foods, no wonder we have a weight problem in this country! :frown:
You're fasting on Friday the 13th!

But seriously, @Debs, two high schoolers came to my door last week selling cookie dough for their team. I told them if they came next year selling something less ridiculous (not quite the wording I used) I would buy from them. If I wanted some home made cookies, I would mix up some cookie dough. Not buy some questionable product made in some factory and shipped to the school and then delivered to me. Really????

I'm finishing up my Thursday fast day. Poking around here while too worn out to do anything better.
Ha ha, Wendyjane! When we were in Hawaii earlier in the year, we saw heaps of it in the supermarkets, bizarrre concept. The Americanisation continues here in Aus. It is the same with cake mixes though, how hard is it to make your own?
I'm in today instead of my usual Thursday due to wedding anniversary celebrations on Wednesday and yesterday. I was meant to have lunch with a friend today so thought I'd have to miss out on my second fast of the week altogether but the friend cancelled and luckily I had skipped breakfast in anticipation of the lunch so am able to turn this into a fast day, yay!

You have done so well MaryAnn! :like: We started around the same time so I have followed your progress with interest. I am still a kilo away from my goal weight but in no rush really to get there, it will happen when it happens. I am giving my body a chance to find its 'happy weight' but I am just so pleased to see the current numbers on the scale!

Totally with you on the cookie dough and cake mix Wendyjane and Debs! If you use ready-made stuff, they're not really home-made are they, so what's the point? :?:

Have a successful repair day everyone!
It's so unfortunate that the rest of the world seems to idolize the worst things about America. I apologize for my country.

Oh, wait, I forgot that I don't believe in apologizing for other people's crap. Some people think we should all feel guilty about slavery, because our forefathers blah, blah, blah..
But my forefathers escaped Russia and Nazi Germany in the nick of time. So no guilt here. And no guilt about Big Macs sold on every corner of the world. Just sadness.

I've got this problem lately of going waaaay off topic on a thread. Good night, all!

Well said Wendyjane!!

the world is what it is today solely because of humans, no matter where or how! :-)
We're fasting today too. I am sure we can do well in spite of going for the weekend up to the Cotswolds for granddaughters 9th birthday. I cannot afford to fail today, and it was impossible to re-schedule.
I have made the family traditional cake yet again, having made one in Nov for our grandson. All the grandchildren wish for this cake these days. The recipe is a "secret" from my distant Hungarian/German ancestry and our daughters know how to make it. I made it for their weddings, proper tiers. It's in anything from 12-15 thin layers of cake interleaved with dark real chocolate paste and sealed by a covering of thin crackling of molten sugar (dangerous to apply). Takes 3 days to make.....well, I had NOT ONE LICK!!! That's a real change thanks again to this WOE. Worked out that one small 1"x 4" x 1/2" finger of it is 60 cals so could taste it, but can have more tomorrow.
I know that the supper requested by the birthday girl will be lots of bits and pieces, smoked salmon, chicken, charcuterie olives and salads. I think we can build our fasting calories quite safely on all that. Fill up on salad but not bread but my challenge will be having to pass on the wine, if I have one small glass it is so hard to stop there.

Am so glad it's a fast day. We always look forward to the refreshed clear feeling that follows.
Enjoy your repair day everyone, today! :clover:
Thanks, guys! @Sassy1 @AiriR you guys have both done incredibly well, too.

Gosh, I love how supportive this place is. It's so lovely

I'm another American who only makes cakes and cookies from scratch. Mixes taste so artificial. I guess they're full of preservatives?

@Katharina that cake sounds amazing!
I'm fasting today for the second time :) good luck all who are fasting! xx
I'm fasting today - Friday is a good day for me to do it - don't really know why except for lovely thoughts of a culinary weekend! Having said that I do feel a bit weak this morning (in mind not body) and some little voice inside me is saying "why bother"? Never mind I've got bedrooms to get ready for Christmas - EVERYONE's coming to us(!) - and I can usually get thru till around 2 or 3 in the afternoon before having my 5:2 soup so here goes...... I've got a lovely new dress to wear for Christmas so I am determined to keep my weight down. Happy Friday everyone :-)
