I'm in again. Fasted twice last week and the weight is down again this morning, so that's encouraging. I've been walking with my neighbour, baby and dog and hung out the washing, although the sky looks grey and stormy. The phone ap says: 5% chance of 1 mm of rain. Big deal! Will it ever rain properly again? I don't know what I'll have for dinner but I'm about to do a plan now. Who else is in today?
Quiet for a Monday. I have decided to have a smoked turkey salad, with English spinach, lettuce, snow peas and I am roasting cubes of the last of my butternut pumpkin. All out of the garden and the turkey, harvested by a neighbour at a historic homestead and smoked by my OH. Meanwhile, it is 12.30pm and I am ravenous so I'm going to have an egg. No toast, sad!
Moi !

added yet another "low cal, low fat, low whatever" to my cookbook collection over the weekend. $2 at a market.. the AWW diabetes cookbook and making a chicken skewers with carrot mash and leek from it tonight. Not eating till then .

Had a great weekend of eating including a massive buffet on Saturday night and a Moroccan cake with home made ice cream yesterday. Well it was the weekend.
Hi there!
I'm going to join you. I tried some fasting a little less than a year ago, but ended up developing hyperthyroidism--lost weight and now gained it back plus 5 lbs. I feel like I need to be careful though--fasting is hard for me. But I have been gearing myself up for it and feel like I am ready to try again starting this week--Monday and Thursday. I have a new job working in a cafe. It may be hard to be around food when I get hungry, but it will be better for me to be at work rather than at home where the peanut butter is so accessible! I had a fairly low-cal dinner tonight; my plan is to not eat breakfast and to fast until my shift at the cafe is over, which should be around 1 pm. I then need to pick up groceries, so I will go to a store that has a great food bar and get a sensible veggie laden lunch. My plan is then to make it until dinner (6 pm) without snacking. That is my goal. I hope I can do it. Thanks for listening!
Sounds like a plan @cms. I think it is easier to fast when at work but then I don't work in a cafe. I have had a fairly hungry day and have had a few incidents with dry biscuits and a pot of hummus. Now heading outside to work in the garden for at least half an hour. AWW cook books ( Australian Women's Weekly, for those who don't know,) are fabulous, aren't they, @Juliana.Rivers? Chicken skewers and carrot mash sounds very healthy. Hope you can make it to dinner better than me today.
Moien,

Jumping on board the train again having missed it last week , following a birthday weekend and a lot of strange stuff at home, with OH signed off sick with stress due to work, and then his decision (and theirs) to leave the company. Now it's just the to and fro of t's and c's. This will have a huge affect on how I approach the 5:2woe, as he is a see it think it eat it eater...and it's really hard if someone says "I fancy X..." Or, strangely worse, "don't bother cooking.." So let's see how it goes.
Only managed two sort of "didn't really fast" days, and 200 g gained since previous weigh in. Hanging on in there today.
It's Autumn, the trees are glorious but the fog kind of hides that! A little metaphor for the day!

Best of luck all...

broke my fast at 5.40pm with a tiny amoutn of left over frittata from last night and a few spoons of greek yoghurt.
not bad i think
'God give you good morrow, kind friends', yes I'm reading 'Lamentations' by C. S. Sansome, set in Tudor England at the end of King Henry VIII's reign. Fascinating stuff. There was precious little for the lower classes to eat, fasting was definitely their way of life but not their choice.
It is my choice today, just drinking an awakening tisane of lemon verbena, soon to have decaf coffee, water and more tisanes throughout the day and on to post 6pm dinner of avocado, boiled egg and leaves with a decaf with double cream. That's it until after 10am tomorrow.
May the fast be with you :0)
Good morning, I'm in. For no reason at all quite a lot of unintentional grazing took place this weekend, perhaps its that time of year with the clock change. So I am tightening my belt with a good fast today. I'll pick up sparkling water on the way to work, it makes all the difference for me. Eggs for dinner with some veggies @Sallyo it's good to hear your fasts went well last week.
Good luck everyone :clover:
Quite a party you have here, may I join you?

I started new week with very fancy way - a dentist appointment. She told me not to eat for two hours after, and I thought: don't worry :D
I'm in today as well. Water and cups of black tea until dinner time. Until then I'd better get my backside into gear and get the housework done so that I can have this afternoon all to myself to make some more Christmas cards.
I'm in today, after a disastrous weekend.... Daren't even do a weigh in today.
You guys are doing so well and I'm going to take motivation from that and move on.
Hello,
I'm in today. My life has been a little crazy with work and some weekend trips for family things, so I've been a little lax with my fasting. I'm back in today though. My goal is to do 2 good fasts this week, get in 10K steps a day and see what happens!
Have a great day everyone!
Hi all, I'm in today too. Last week I did two good fasts and still put on a bit of weight, so I'm really hoping that two good fasts this week will tell me that last week was just a blip...

:clover: everybody!
I'm fasting today. Have been sticking to Mon/Thursdays. I've had some weight loss success with this (2 months in now). I'm waiting to see how my thyroid reacts. Eating 1/2 my calories late morning and then rest mid afternoon. Aiming for a non-eating window till next day of between 16/18 hours. Would love to hear from folks who have thyroid issues who have been on 5:2 for some time with success ( and/or hear how 5:2 affected thyroid function.)
