Iv'e had a really good fast today my daughter came round and i made us all a large salad and tortilla pizza a la The Hairy Dieters it was delicious.
Still have enough cals for some fresh strawberries later, not bad for a bank holiday.
A bit anxious that my fasting buddy clairemarie seems to have gone AWOL , I hope she is OK
My allowance for the day does not go far when try to have a regular meal with other half who needs a big dinner!! I have homemade soup in single portions in freezer so that is middle of day meal. I am lucky to be able to chuck in good selection of fresh herbs from garden to a salad. I am getting very scrupulous about reading labels for calorie count = some surprises there. Being celiac, I am used to checking stuff.
Around this time (7:00 PM) I start thinking about how I can eat whatever I want tomorrow, which gets me throughthe rest. But yes, I don't recall ever being this hungry on a fast day before.
Welcome to @moo, the support on this forum is phenomenal, check in whenever it gets tough, there's always information & inspiration to be found...best of luck.
Am trying to convince my friend he should try this; he's very nervous about the idea of not eating, has convinced himself he gets headaches. Tried to explain about glucose vs fat burning, but not sure I'm getting through. Did tell him to come to the forum and check it out, lots of different perspectives here. If anyone has a similar story, especially male (thinking you'll get sick if you don't eat), I'd appreciate hearing from you. Take care!
julianna wrote: I teared up when I read your post @carieoates. Its so nice to feel cared about from your friends across the world. This clot is not a DVT but more superficial. I am a varicose veiny person and I have a clotting disorder called anticardiprin antibodies ( it can affect pregnant women with multiple miscarriages or small birth weight babies and the preventative treatment is low dose aspirin). This clot is below the knee and hard and painful but the ultrasound showed I had a partial blockage in the vein in my upper thigh and my doc said this was the one that is a worry as its close to the main vein. The injection is clexane and the only reason I have to do it twice is so it was on the pbs and reduced cost. I apologize for this on your fasting thread but I think I may have contributed to putting you all off your food
Xxx julianna
@julianna, I had meant to get on here to send my best wishes earlier, but it's been another busy few days >.<;;
Sorry to hear about your clot, but relieved to know it's not a DVT and that you're having heparin to deal with it. Do you inject yourself? I never could, those ones sting like you wouldn't believe it don't they?!
Have you had clots before or you're just prone to them? Do take it a bit easy if you can, I'd suggest staying off work and resting so your body can focus on breaking it down. I trust as you say it's not as bad as a DVT that there's no big risk of an embolism? Do take care my dear. Rest up if you can, but remember to keep your legs moving regularly and not stay sitting for prolonged periods! Lie down if you feel your heart racing a bit, that helps to ease its job. Keep us informed of how you're getting on and feel free to message if you want a chat. I hope it all resolves quickly, these things are no fun and the thinners can make you feel so rubbish (cold, tired, fuddled). xxx
