Hey Everybody,
I am fasting today. It's my usual day (second of the week) but today is different from a normal day because I have just moved house and everyday since last Friday I have been lifting, carrying and doing excessive stairs as I unload and sort out at my new house (built over three floors)....... moved everything in person as removal men only take furniture here! For the first time in my fasting history, I haven't done any specific exercise (except moving house) in a week. I was delighted to notice that I have grown enviable muscles over the last week and I was feeling thin, healthy and happy with my improved shape until I weighed in and the scales registered a gain of half a kilo  I'm telling myself that it must be the weight of my lovely new muscle mass :?: but how annoying is that  Throughout the whole week, I have eaten well and exceeded my calories burned target on my fitbit........ so today is a fast whereby I am hoping for a weight-loss but I am wondering what will be . WHEN I have found my clothes (have been living and laundering the same few items for a week) I will try on a few of my previously "small" clothes to see if I have lost the cms that I feel as if I have lost because the scales are not being so kind to me this week.... let's hope the previously small clothes tell a happier picture.
Wishing all of today's fast people, a GREAT day x

@Sallyo, if I make a cake batter or whip yoghurt/cream or similar, I tend to spray the bowl with white vinegar both as a degreaser and as a reminder not to lick the bowl. All I can say is that although that works as a deterrent for me, it doesn't for my DH.
Hi @kelly25-tr and welcome! How annoying are those scales! But it is only one measurement and there can be a lot of error associated with it. Perhaps you had drunk a glass or two or water (with all that moving) before weighing - that could be 500g! But hopefully the scales will be kinder after your fast day. Enjoy your new house. :)

I am struggling with fasting today. Cooked macaroni cheese for the menfolk and couldn't stop myself scrapping the dish... :( Am having yet another cup of coffee - now decaf - and it is 8.30 so not too long til bed. Have settled down to watch Upper Middle Bogan after cleaning up after dinner and doing my share of the caravan packing. :)

Hope everyone else is doing ok. :D
I so enjoyed Upper Middle Bogan tonight, it's great to have this little show back!
MS requested macaroni cheese as well tonight, I watched on as my OH and MS both tucked into it - I just had a piece of chicken and some salad, feeling very virtuous. :victory: :victory:
Have a great few days away in the caravan @Sassy1 - enjoy your little break.

cheers
Maggie
Oh I missed Upper Middle Bogan! I'll have to watch it on Iview. Visitors gone, they never guessed! Dinner was great but I ate too much for a fast day. Good night all, and hang in there others who are still in the day or even last night and still to see today!
@Kelly25-tr, When you exercise much more than usual you end up with a lot of excess water in your muscles, hence that extra weight. It will pass. Congrats on your new home! All the stress involved in moving probably raises cortisol, too, which will temporarily affect weight, too.

I woke up much too early today, which I hate on fast days. Extra hours of until dinner! But here I am. Must do a project today to make the time pass.
I'm here! We are getting a new floor in the kitchen today and I work. Also my husband has seen how well 5-2 is working for me so he is going to try a low calorie (that's what we are calling it because 'fast' sounds hard) day with me. I told him it might've hard the first day but at least he can have 600 calories. He says even if he can do it he will still need to watch himself on non-fast days because he easily eats way to much.
It's mid afternoon and I'm having a *meh* sort of day when I can't get down to anything even though I have a 6 hour workshop to prepare for Saturday. I keep checking in here which isn't really taking my mind off fasting! Have had umpteen fizzy water & cups of tea, plus a diet Coke. I don't like to have more than one diet Coke in a day and I try to only have them on fast days. Need to get busy between now and 7pm when I'll be off to the gym and away from the evening's potential temptations. I'm somewhat worried I won't have anything good to report when I do my first Christmas Challenge weigh-in tomoz.
I hope everyone's having a good day! :clover:
PS What's Upper Middle Bogan?
Hi everyone, today is a fast day for me -- just starting over here in the states. My fast days have been going pretty well, it is the feed days that are still out of control with me! So I'm looking for a pretty good day today, lots of little chores to keep me busy. Hope it's gone well for all of you finishing up.
Dee
Don't worry about those feed days, just concentrate on the fast days!

I am coming to the conclusion that a bit of overeating on the feed days is probably a good thing and keeps our leptin levels from dropping. Low leptin is what makes dieters who have lost a lot regain. So by refeeding a bit above TDEE after a fast you may slow down your weight loss, but it is possible that you will be able to maintain what you lose. I'm always feeling like I'm eating way too much, but here I am almost 8 months in and considerably below the goal I had originally set. So all the angst about overeating in earlier months of the diet were probably misplaced.

When I have extended the period between my fasts, I note that I am not overeating to that same extent, either. Which is a good sign, since whenever I have been at this current weight I have eaten my way back out of it.
I'm in. I've got baked egg and spinach for dinner with a a side of grated carrot, pickled onions and a baby bell cheese. I usually allow myself a diet drink on a fast day with dinner too,
I often wake up early at the end of the fast day and that's what's happened today. It's Friday morning, 4.30 am and I'm awake. Upper Middle Bogan is an Australian comedy about class. 'Bogan' is an Australian word to describe a working class person.
@peebles, I agree with what you say about not worrying too much about the non-fast days. I think it's the great attraction of the 5:2 Way of Life that you are not on a diet and you don't have to be too concerned about what you eat, except on two days a week. That's what makes it a sustainable life style for me. Once you start restricting yourself on the other days, you are on a diet. Like you, I have been able to maintain my lower weight, while on diets in the past, the weight has always gone back on when I got sick of being on a diet. And also, since being on 5:2, I don't enjoy over eating any more. I am able to stop and leave food on my plate.
@SallyO, When I went through a phase last spring where I tried to eat at TDEE on feed days and started counting things on those days, I stalled. When I said, "screw it" and started eating again, the weight started coming off again. That made me a believer.
Well done all you guys ...there,nearly there,a little way to go yet :like:
I failed to do my Usual Thursday fast...not one cell of me was willing to fast today. Must.do.better.
@sassy1 enjoy yr break and @sallyo enjoy dindins with yr visitors x
 second fast day today and I'm really tired! Waiting for hubby to get home then I'll be off to bed. I'm under the 500 calories by about 20 odd but that's good. Wondering if I should weigh myself tomorrow or should I wait another week?
