This is the first time I've read one of these "Fasting today" threads. Now I'm just full of questions. What's a hob nob? What's Bovril? And above all, how can a spreadsheet be biscuit heavy???

I had a big salad today. Anybody want to take a guess at the calories? My typical salad is about 2 cups of greens and raw vegetables, no dressing to speak of (few drops sometimes). I've been assuming 25 calories, but I don't really know.

Dinner is still to come, and will be most of my 350 or so calories on a fast day.
Sounds about right to me, wendyjane.
I don't know what hob nobs are either! ; )
They are chocolate coated digestive biscuits, very delicious but full of calories:)

Hehe, this made me laugh. I don't like hobnobs- the dry oaty-ness always makes me cough, but colleagues used to go mad for them, esp the choc ones.
Bovril is a marmite-style brown gunk that you can make into a hot drink (or a sort of stock) with boiling water. Bleugh.
And doing any sort of work at the computer, especially spreadsheets makes some people eat biscuits unconsciously. So making the work biscuit-heavy. Yum, could eat one right now while I'm typing this...
Oh and @wendyjane when UK folk refer to biscuits they are talking about cookies, unless it's chocolate chip cookies then they are chocolate chip cookies.

This link might help with some other words announces/topic1133.html
hobnobs are oat biscuits (cookies). They are epic. You can get them covered in chocolate. 91cals per biscuit though. Lordy!
Well, thank you @soobidoobs, @golarne, @Betsysgr8 and @imcountingufoz. This has been very illuminating and more to the point, a really fun thing to wake up to when my day after this break involves trying to clean black mold off my window frames (from the flood).

I'm still laughing about the biscuit-heavy spreadsheets, @golarne.

I knew that cookies were biscuits over there (though I didn't know the part about chocolate chip cookies!).
Hey, @betsysgr8, if you are still online, can you tell me how to do the "@name" thing? Because I didn't see anything about it in the FAQs, and I'm pretty sure adding a @ before your names didn't do anything. THanks.
@wendyjane - you use the tag bit in full editor :)
