I'm here. Feeling good about the Christmas Challenge - long may that continue!

I'm in. Third of the week for me. Probably not a 500 cal as I have zofrani kofta left from last night which I will have with a paratha.
Still at the very least it's 22:2 and as I am sure I've hit a major plateau it's kind of starting into maintenance.
Good luck everyone :clover:
Fast day for me, my second one intend not eating til this afternoon or evening (find that easier than eating smaller meals earlier). I agree with the last meal before a fast being important, I've fasted before & found it much easier if I'd eaten something healthy rather than not so healthy.
Out of pure interest why are some of you doing 1000cal fasts?
Ech sinn do, as they say here in Luxembourg. Had such a sugar session yesterday. Back to basics today, with cottage cheese and a banana for breakfast, and planning fish in tomato sauce for tonight. Happy fasting!
I'm in today, first fast for two weeks as on holiday last week, feel as though I really need it!

Good luck to all :clover:
@Guineapig mammy the 500/600 calorie limit was set based on a quarter of the 'average ' calorie requirement of the 'average' person. Some of us have found that the 500cals is too much and eat less. Some find that having lost the weight they wanted to and are moving into maintenance. Still fasting and increasing the calories is one method to be tried.
Others have eaten more than 500 and still managed to shift the weight!
SO many variations! However, it seems to be advised to stick to straightforward 5:2 to begin with, see how you get on after a good few weeks, then vary if you feel you need to try something different.
Hope this explains.
Hi @Guineapig Mammy

Hope your fast is going ok! :)

I think the main reason people do 1000cal fasts is that they are on maintenance, and are following the Krista Varady (I think it is) suggestion of 3 days at 1000cal to maintain.

Perhaps some people doing 4:3 may decide to have one of the fast days higher cals too.

Best wishes for your journey with this way of eating. :)

(And re my fast day - have had a miso soup but still hope to make the rest of the day a liquid fast. The menfolk are having T-bone steaks and baked potatoes done in the Weber, plus steamed veggies. DH is cooking. :) )
@Guineapig mammy I am as Sassy1 says, doing maintenance a la Krista Varady of 3x1000 cals.
Such a better explanation than mine, @GMH and@Sassy1!
@Sallyo hope you had great fun with your GD. I'm working at home today - which is great. Courgette spaghetti and soya mince spag bol for dinner, no idea of the cals but as my stomach has shrunk it will be a realistic portion as I can only eat small portions these days.

Drinking lots of fizzy water and tea. Good luck everyone :clover:
Hi, I am in today.
Interesting about the 1000 cal days for maintenance. I could do that very easily - have had plenty of practice in the past doing that 7 days a week ;)
Good luck everyone. I am thinking of changing things up today and going to M&S and treating myself to a nice calorie counted ready meal - instead of my usual fast day dinner of eggs....
Almost done here, I ended up having slightly over at 728 but as I did a fast yesterday, I am not too worried, and had mostly fat, so all good!
Crazy busy at work the past few weeks, too busy to forum much, but wanted to commit to the (fast day) world that today IS a fast day, 500 cals. THERE, now I'm committed ;)
Have a lovely fast day all, pax.
I am in  I find it easier to fast when at work.
My tummy's rumbling...

I'm going to take my mug of tea outside and wander round the garden sussing out jobs for a bit. Hmm, might forage a few raspberries while I'm there...
