Hi menie1983 and welcome. Yes, the hunger does usually pass if you keep yourself busy enough.

Having said that, I broke down this afternoon. I'm never happy being cold, but when I'm cold and hungry I'm downright miserable. I usually wait till dinner on my fast days to eat but today I had an apple and peanut butter (150 cal) at 2pm with a cup of tea. It is my second fast day in a row and I have calculated and logged my calories for dinner and I will go only slightly over 500 in total, so I am not going to beat myself up about it.
First day of fasting today for me! I've rededicated myself to this WOE after dabbling for a couple weeks earlier this year. It's only a little after 10am (I'm on the left side of the atlantic ;)) but so far so good. (I was listening to BBC world news, which airs during the 9am hour on my local NPR station, and all the british accents made me think of you guys!)

Anyway I ate fairly late last night, and can kind of still feel some food in my stomach (or maybe that's a little incipient GIRD), so not eating this morning is actually a relief. I've got some romaine hearts in my fridge, the plan is to wait until at least 2pm and have a big ole bowl of salad with a little dressing, then wait until 7 or 8 and have a grilled turkey burger with half a bun and some ketchup, more salad, and a low fat chocolate yogurt for dinner.

Quick question: Is it okay or taboo to discuss here on the boards the usage of, shall we say, smokeables that aren't tobacco but are quasi-legal in a small handful of US states. Since I'm not the type to get the munchies, I've had some success in the past using it as a zero calorie substitute for ye olde end of the day glass of wine or beer, but if it's a prohibited topic, or one likely to be met with a lot of scorn and scolding, I'll keep those thoughts to myself.
Hi all, I'm in today! Have a lot of socializing coming up, so getting the fasts out of the way Mon/Wed this week.

Haven't planned my dinner yet. Monday I stopped after work at a chopped salad place and had an amazing protein-filled salad that actually felt like a treat. Huge, filling, and satisfying. But usually I prefer to cook up some fish or chicken myself and tons of veg. It is good to know that there are good quick options available though, for those days I'm too lazy/weary/hungry to cook!

Happy fasting! :geek:
Yes I'm in with an Unexpected fast today :like:
woke up early and unwell so back to bed until lunchtime.
Had a cup of black tea and took advantage making it fastday. Sue
Finally getting my first hunger pangs of the day at 1pm. Is it weird that I'm kind of happy they're finally here? I finally feel like I'm actually doing the fast day, and the slight indigestion/semi-full feeling that I woke up with, from last night's late meal has finally left me. I think I'm going to try to push through to my 7pm dinner.

I'm also glad I'm getting my fast day out of the way today, which turned out the first day of my period. Day two or three is usually a day of severe tiredness combined with hunger, and it'll be nice to have that be a feast day.
Mostly successful fasting day for me yesterday, but had to battle through Guides with two groups cooking and a birthday girl having cakes and sweets! I ended up just having 3 pieces of popcorn (no fat), one bit was dipped in choc though (they were making all manner of popcorn recipes). But I still came under my TDEE/4 so all is well.
Looks like there are two "fasting today" threads and seeing as I need all the encouragement I can get, I'm going to say hi here as well

I ate badly yesterday, really badly, so whilst Thursday is my usual fast day, I figured I'd do it today and may be fit in a second one on Friday

It's only 9am on the east coast of the US, so I have the full day ahead of me, and I'm already feeling the emptiness in my belly which I have come to rely on and almost enjoy when I fast. I was planning to juice it through the day but the juicer I ordered isn't here yet, so I'll have to keep with my previous food plans which have served me well

I wish you a successful fast!
 wrong month@jeninboston  Sue
I'm in too! I've not been able to fast this week due to taking painkillers. All I have had so far is lemon and hot water. My tummy has rumbled today which is now unusual for me but only 3 hour until tea time. :clover: Good luck to all who are fasting :clover:
