I'm fasting today and as usual am struggling with what to drink. I buy fruit teas and find the box looks lovely but can't stand the contents! Can anyone recommend any that actually taste nice please?
Hi there each to there own as they say because loads of members say green tea etc I too can't stand any of them also can't stand tap water.
Fiddled around for couple of months at my start and guess what I'm drinking most of Tap Water. I just get on with it and do the best I can
My other daily drink normal Tea now wouldn't be without either
Quite like powdered lemon tea and have started to make that then pop in a green tea bag to get rid of them actually, also oxo's keep me going on f/day afternoons good one for the colder months.
Good Luck in finding something to suit you :clover: Sue. :clover:
Thanks Sue Q. Our tapwater seems to be heavily chlorinated (you can actually smell it sometimes - reminds me of swimming lessons when I was a kid - not good...). I drink bottled water which is great when weathers warm but in colder months I feel cold on this diet so might persist in trying to find a decent lemon tea.
Welcome to the forum, Rubies!
Taste is such a personal thing, I don't like fruit teas either, they're jut too insipid for me. I like robust flavours, I like builders' tea, a spoon could stand up in it, you get my drift? Anyway, because I don't want to drink milk when I'm fasting I drink Rooibus (redbush) tea, and appreciate its smokey but mellow taste. Also love miso paste, all types, a big spoonful in a mug topped up with boiling water. This is really good when I feel hungry! First thing I like lemon zest and sliced ginger, but the real stuff, not those powdery tea bags. Cold weather and I head for Indian chai, loose black tea with spices and a kick of chilli. I find chai teabags are pretty good too! Espresso is an occasional treat and I now prefer it without sugar.
Good luck, it's trial and error really - just stay away from the hard stuff and you should do ok! :clover:
I was never a big fan or herbal teas but I kept trying new flavors and I finally found a couple that I like. But to be honest, I just drink plain water and my morning coffee on my fast days.
I drink hot squash - mainly Low sugar Robinsons. I've tried most of the fruit teas and can't say I find they live up to their description!
Not a fan of fruit teas. My fast day beverages:
- Peppermint tea sweetened with stevia;
- Filtered tap water;
- Good old fashion Diet Coke or Pepsi Max.

Soda water is nice with fruit in to infuse flavour. Google infused water recipies. They're like pimms without the alcohol
Here are a few to try. I'm a bit of a herb tea person even though I do love my coffee:
Rooibos chai (dragonfly teas are the best). Plenty of oomph.
Fennel tea is good for hunger pangs
Dandelion tea good for water retention, tastes vile.
Currently trying Pukka's night time tea which is oat flower, lavender and lime flower. Not bad..
If you like sweet tea, anything with licorice in is nice and it feels like a treat
Camomile is very relaxing and I don't mind the twinings camomile and spiced apple version
If you have any mint in the garden, fresh mint tea is about the best brew there is.
I also like fresh ginger and lemon, gets the day off to a good start.
Then there is balsamic vinegar and diet sprite (tastes like Pimms)
Welcome and good luck :like: :clover:
I tend to go with sparkling water.
Ooo Izzy. I had forgotten tea pigs winter spiced tea. Similar to dragonfly rooibos chai but Christmassy! Thank you.
Hi all,

I filter my water in a Brita pitcher. I make green tea mixed with peppermint for an iced tea. I don't particularly like green tea but think the benefits justify drinking it. The mint covers the taste. Seems to cut my appetite too.

I just bought some Better Than Bouillon at Costco. It is 20 cal for a tsp in 8 oz water. Very good and filling.

I also like the ginger and ginger/lemon teas.
Hi Rubes and welcome!

Thanks for bringing this subject up and thanks for all the suggestions from everyone..
V helpful for me coz I only really like strong tea with a splash of milk ..
but think i will give Jm's green tea with mint a try ..i can see how the mint wd cut thru hunger..i find cleaning my teeth several times on fast and repair days has that effect...
Also dhana's ginger with lemon zest..that sounds a brrrrill way to start the day!
Up to now have just stuck to plain or sparkling water..miss my cuppas more than food i think but am sure its all just habit really..kettle is always on in this pad!
Hope yr fast day is going well/ has gone well fellow Monday fasters x

I also bought some Better than Bouillon (chicken) at Costco this weekend but I have been buying the Better than Bouillon (vegetable) since I started 5:2 and like it better than the meat flavors for drinking. I'll save the chicken one for cooking. :)
I didn't see the vegetable one at Costco. I see Trader Joe's carries some of them. I check that out. Thanks! Jane
