I really hope it is my body adapting-I did a fast yesterday but hit 570 cals and then realised it should be at 400with my body type so did another at 400today.100 cals might not seem like a lot but every calorie counts on fast day so delighted to be eating 2eggs on brown bread

Made it!!
I got through the day on fruit teas and a bowl of weightwatchers soup. A big salad and a small steak and some strawberries and I'm still just under my 500 cals.
Yay for 5:2

First fast today ! Found it not too bad at all. Had porridge with milk but it was dorset cereals with rasps and myfitness pal said 274 cal, pink lady apple at lunch was 85cals which didnt leave much for tea - had a mushoom omlette - may have taken me slightly over. I will have to find a lower cal porridge! Didnt eat after 7pm last night and will not eat again now until tomorrow morning at 7.30. Im a bit confused over the 36 or 24 hour fast thing - have i done it right? :?

Yes! Ignore the 24 hour thing it's a bit of a red herring!

:D I hear ya. I can't watch it either when I am fasting. I do like to watch Fat Families or Secret Eaters though. Inspires me a bit because I do not ever want to end up so unhealthy and it makes me feel good about what I'm doing. ;)

I did 6pm sunday to 6pm monday and was really struggling with it feeling pretty ill and grumpy  , but today is going much better especially after weighing my self this morning :) lost a bit over one of these :fat:

Went for a 6pm tuesday start and now going for the 36 hour stretch ending with a big breakfast at 6am tomorrow to get me going for a big active day.

Today had 50g of porridge half eaten at 10 am and then 12 am seems to be working much better than yesterdays two spaced out boiled eggs and salmon/salad at 5pm
Guess the half hour on the bike using only protein made it too hard.

Just need to have a good filling 500 cal dinner to push me towards the finish line.

update
Got to dinner at 6pm and worked out that the half pint of milk, 50g of porridge and a 90 cal soup drink was not leaving me enough cals to make me have a decent dinner, the end result was I eat to much 300 or 400 cals to much and ended up with a pain in the stomach! as the fasting is like a temp gastric band op. later this evening I had a great hour on the exercise bike using up 700 cals and felt great....the scales will tell me tomorrow if I have been good or bad! Will be back on the fasting from sunday evening...looking forward to it.
p.s I do at least 3mins of hiit daily like in 'The Truth about Exercise' and recommend it as it is a powerful tool for health just like this fasting is.

Teresab1979 wrote: I'm doing my fifth fast today and for the first time it feels a bit daunting (well I felt daunted about the very first one but was amazed to find it was simple)... Does anyone else find that as soon as they eat they just want to eat more? I have found it better to just hang in there and have the 500 cals in the evening before bed. If I have something small 'to keep me going' it's like my body just goes 'Food time! Where's the rest?!'. So I think I'll stick to guzzling water 'til later. Hope everyone else has a good fast day. :)

Yes Teresa I've only just started but found I prefer to eat nothing until about 12 or 1 pm. I constantly sip water in morning, and have hot lemon squash. Then lunch, and dinner. Also in afternoon I had Marigold bouillon (thin soup -about 10 cals per cup) tasty and helped me through. The water seemed to help.

Good luck
