Fasting today - I work from home, generally, so work is my distraction. (I need chocolate to entice me to do housework!!) Managed so far on coffee, soup (55 cals) and 1 biscotte (32). Hope to make it to dinner on fruit teas so we'll have smoked salmon and spinach egg pots for supper PLUS a green salad. I think I might be able to squeeze in a small banana too.
I've not seen a great weight loss (just under 1 kg in 3 weeks) and I don't feel much healthier for the regime - but I'm sticking to it as it is a sustainable way to look after myself.
Hi fellow friday fasters im off out for a long walk to hopefully distract me from the hunger
Good idea wittyusername!might get wrapped up and take the baby out a long walk if the afternoon drags!
Hello all! Had a long morning since my son's school was delayed by two hours - we're having snow. Hubby flies home today, so I'm pretty excited about that. I have a wonderful leftover veg curry in the fridge for our dinner. I made it last week and it was wonderful, so I immediately put the leftovers in the freezer for today :-)

Carorees, I hope your labs go well today. That's very interesting about the cholesterol.
Well the visit to the doctor's office was a bit annoying actually! First their scales weigh me as 7kg more than my own scales (yes 7! 7! how can it be so much?)! I got home and tried to find a place on the bathroom floor where my scales would match the docs and there was nowhere! Anyway, I'm not too upset, cos I know I have lost a lot even though I am officially still obese (not for much longer though, eh?). Second, the nurse was not going to send the bloods for lipid analysis, despite the fact that I had talked to the doctor about it. She said the bloods were just for electrolytes. I explained that the doc and I had talked about cholesterol readings so she is going to ask the doc if the sample should be tested for lipids. So I may not find out whether my cholesterol readings have changed since starting this new WOL. Grrr! The good news was that my BP did not shoot up too high like it usually does.

Oh well, I have reduced my target weight so that I can continue using my old scales and if I hit that target I will be a sensible BMI at the doctors .
It's my first day too altho' I did a 'trial' day 2 weeks ago and felt great. Easy so far today but I am dreading the evening because that's when I crave the chocs/biscuits. Good luck.
How annoying Caroline!

I have also been to the docs today and as a result am feeling old (I am only 44)! It looks like I have early onset arthritis and also my blood pressure was slightly on the high side when usually it is spot on!

Am going for a blood test on Monday and have to go back for blood pressure in month.

I have done well on the weight loss since starting 5:2 so let's now hope the health benefits start kicking in!!

On the plus side a good day fasting - only coffee, water and fruit tea so far and now Fat Dormouse has mentioned smoked salmon and eggs think that could be dinner sorted!

Hope everyone elses day is going well.
Oh Caroline, what a bummer! On the bright side, you're still down, so that's good. And Hurrah for the blood pressure being down!
Yes, very annoying for you Caroline. But still a loss.

I've been feeling really hungry all day - ate my one meal (tuna salad) at lunch as I was in the office today. Felt so hungry on the way home that I was convinced I would need some soup to comfort me once in the door. However I really did want comfort food because once at home I felt I could wait until tomorrow to eat.

So glad to be out of the cold and in the toasty warm!
On my 2nd fast day today and just had a hot and sour soup for my dinner around the 100 calorie mark it's made a nice tasty dinner and summat different. First weigh day tomo so let's hope this diet is working fingers crosses :?:
Blimey I was so cold today. Spent the 2 hours before dinner hugging a radiator whilst finishing my book. Now dinner is eaten and the fire is on so warmth prevails. This cold blast coming this weekend is going to be horrific come next fast day on Monday. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :0(
Now feeling stuffed after grilled chicken breast and home-made low-ish fat ratatouille! Probably gone over 500 cos the ratatouille just needed to be finished off you know?!
veggies are good for you!

Although quite sincerely, better to go over with something really nutritious than with sugar.
Oh Azure blue, I'm the same way, I get so cold on fast days! Stay warm :-)
