Coffee and water for me, with a little creamer in the coffee. Was doing black only but I figure if I have 500 cals to play with, I can swing some creamer and still be under 100 cals even with 3 or 4 cups. :-) Mostly do liquid fasts now as I was obsessing on what I could eat for 500 cals so this is just easier. One fast day last week I did not feel good so had a small 250 Cal meal.
Liquid fasting did help me break a plateau but has NOT sped up my weight loss. Wonder why it doesn't for most of us very low cal liquid eaters??
Hi Doey;
think the reason weight lost as not spread up for me is that my bmi is fairly low and I think I eat well above my TDEE at weekends. I never calorie count but it feels like I overeat.
If you are concerned enough maybe think about a food diary for your non dieting days.
Thanks Jacksati. I do keep an eye on calories and usually am under. One day a week I might get close to or go over, but should be losing more for what I am actually eating I think, but we probably all think that! ;-) My BMI is not low so that is why it seems like it should coming off just a bit quicker to me. Barely doing a pound a week and that with 2 days of almost no calories at all and not overeating 5 days. A bit frustrating but at least I am usually losing a bit each week so I shall carry on! :-)
I am in for my 3rd liquid fast today. Went out for a meal with a friend last night but didn't have a starter and a lovely main with a tiny slice of cake with a coffee. I didn't feel bloated as I used to be afterwards (cutting out bread has helped) and often found it difficult to sleep.
So, am feeling ready to liquid fast. Will treat myself to a black coffee from a well known chain on the way into work and then just water and tea until tomorrow morning. I am cooking a roast tonight for my sons but am determined to stick to this today simply because it is working and I can see results.
Thinking about making today my first ever liquid fast. All I've had so far is peppermint tea and water with lemon. Would normally have a 350 cal meal tonight but am interested to see what it'll be like to hold out and very much hoping it could kick me off my current plateau. Any top tips/motivation/inspiration to keep me strong this evening would be much appreciated!

Hi Curiouser, once you get passed your normal dinner time you'll be fine. Just be careful what you break your fast with in the morning. Make your first meal small and low white carbs or you might find an urgent toilet need! Doing a liquid fast for the first time is just like 500cal fasting for the first time. Keep going, if you do it only once then you can say you've done it.
Thanks so much for the tips and encouragement, wildmissus! I'm feeling very determined but a tad nauseous I must admit. Will have a cup of chicken stock in a bit, will be interesting to see if that helps.

Does anyone else experience nausea or queasiness while fasting? I usually get it early evening on a fast day when I've had nothing so far and deal with it by eating something from my calorie allowance. Today will be that cup of stock which will hopefully do the job just as well...
I have never had any nausea with this fast and tomorrow will be my 26th one I think :smile:
C & C you have quite a low bmi are you planing to lose much more.
Maybe its your body saying Iam at the right weight :smile:
I have done 2 of these and I get nausea. I also get a tightness in my chest and feel like my heart is going fast sometimes. I'm presuming its the adaption phase. 3rd one for me tomorrow.Obviously I'm starting from now til about 7am Thurs morning
I'm so off track this week! After not managing Mondays fast I thought I'd try today so I could still fit two in this week and skipped breakfast, but then walked a kid to the shops and bought lunch and have stuffed my face all day! Only just stopped as I'm going to bed! Can't say there was much healthy stuff being consumed either! My weigh in apps are already showing an increase and my mind set is rubbish! Going to fast tomorrow and hoping by committing here I refind my determination! I actually feel like I can feel the fat returning! Arrrggghhh! Can someone please give me a good shake as I seem determined to sabotage myself this week! :curse:
Cosier yourself shook mariposa! I'm sure you will get on track today though, but remember if you don't, don't fret it could be a 500 cal day instead of a liquid fast. I'm in today again still feeling sluggish hopefully another liquid fast will sort it out!

Good Luck getting back on track today Mariposa - I know you can do it, and think how great you'll feel with another successful fast under your belt. I'm with you today (till tonight at least) . We'll Just Say No together :)

Mariposa; we will be supporting you in spirit if not in body. Years ago I went on a meditation retreat. At the start of the weekend the teacher said if you know what you want from the weekend make a vow/wish to yourself but beware vows/wishes when said with strong determination have their own special magic and there will be consequences whether good or bad. Its something I have never forgot
I didnt make a wish as I had no clear idea about what I wanted from the weekend.
Mariposa if you can; go out for a walk. Walking helps me if the day going badly.

Stuck with my first liquid fast yesterday - peppermint tea, water with lemon and one stock cube drink. And I feel GREAT! Was harder to fall asleep but I have woken up feeling amazing. I am definitely converted - planning another one for Thursday.

Thanks for the response,jacksati. I would like to lose a few more pounds as I have very noticeable flab and fat especially around the middle danger zone even though my BMI is healthy (I am very small with small bone structure). The main reasons for fasting though are the health benefits and I haven't lost any weight for many weeks now so if I can lose just 1/2 pound this week I'll be ecstatic.

Well very strangely my liquid fast is going by quickly too. I started last night around 8pm and its now 6pm the nexy day. Only 5 hours til bed - feel very cold and sluggish and also would love a glass of wine as the reason the day went well was because I've been up the walls at work and will continnue to work until 10pm. This is my third fast and while I wouldn't say I am enjoying them yet - it certainly is easier than the first time. I have had coffee, tea and some homemade broccoli soup (about 50cals). I haven't quite started a water fast yet and am easing myself in
