SianS - it's my very private sanctum...although anyone can look in  It used to just be a planting/reaping place, but last year I decide to "pimp" it with some nice trinkets and a place to rest you bum.

I have never succeeded with corn ever...one year there was nothing an done year tiny little things. Maybe I'm too frugal with good soil and fertilizer?

Landscaping here. In the cockeyed universe that is my brain, I decided that whilst I was 'resting' after my operation I might as well extend my patio. I don't know where shifting 4 cubic metres of soil and then laying 50+ slabs has to do with resting, but I'm feeling rather chipper about it all. Rain has stopped play for now, with only 6 slabs left to lay. If we can get those down today we can start of the retaining wall and planters tomorrow.

@Julieathome, I hope that you are only supervising! If you are being 'hands on' then I am gong to have to keep my fingers crossed for constant rain for a month and the rest of us wouldn't like that!

Take it easy! Recovery can't be rushed, however good you feel right now!

I read somewhere that corn needs 80 days of sunshine (or some such number that is considerably larger than the number of sunny days we generally get in summer in the UK). I think we have to accept we don't live in an appropriate climate either in the UK or Sweden @Wolfie!

We have lots of sun where we planted the corn, no fertiliser but got soil. Everything is growing like weeds here, a lot different to the old place that was in shade most of the time.

That Carorees explains a lot. 3 months of continuous sunshine? In Sweden? I am mighty lucky to have my greenhouse :)
A real great watering hose?

Right now I have a yellow Hozelock (think it's spelled that way) that is too long and too ungainly to really work in the greenhouse. It twirls and bends around it self and it just so annoying. I have done some web search without coming up to much except just Hozelocks hoses, but since gardening is such a great big thing in GB (and other places), I wonder if any of you gardeners out there have ideas to share?
The chili and tomato seeds have started to show no

I am worried about my corn this year. It went in late and while it has nice fat cobs on it, they may not ripen. Perhaps not enough sunny days here after such a late start. But tomatoes! Still they come!

Anybody going to plant sunflowers? Now's the time to plant apparently ...

Is this a UK record???

Just spotted something looking a bit out of place in the garden - on closer inspection it is a pale pink poppy in bloom!

Will post a pic tomorrow when the sun is hopefully shining and I've removed the weeds from around it!

Where are you? I enjoyed 20 years of poppies in my London garden, various types. Last year they died - did not appear, so I have sown new seeds and I am hoping they come cheer me again this year.

Fingers crossed.

Cambridgeshire @Lizbean - these are new plants I grew from plugs last year so maybe they don't know when they're supposed to flower yet - a bit strange having a poppy alongside tulips though!!
