There are so many people reaching their fastiversaries (and what a lot of lovely posts and reports of success) that I thought it might be interesting to inspect the progress tracker to get some stats for those who have completed a year or more of intermittent fasting.

It is fascinating!

There are 194 users of the progress tracker who have got a year or more logged.

The total weight lost is 1765.12kg! Wow!
This is an average of 0.245kg lost per member per week.

Of these 194 members, 14 (7.2%) started out with a BMI in the morbidly obese range, now there is only 1 person; 57 started in the obese range (29.4%) now there are only 33 (17%); 83 were overweight (42.8%), now there are 61 (31.4%) and while only 40 people (20.6% or one in five) had a healthy BMI at the start, now there are 99 (51% or more than half of us).

For those who have been measuring their waists, 81.7% started with a waist:height ratio over 50%, now only 49.3% still have waists larger than half their height.

Congratulations to us all! :like:

Hello all

I do believe today/tomorrow is my Fastiversary! Today as it was a Monday, but tomorrow because it was 29th April.

I'd like to be able to say I've stuck with it and fasted every week without fail but I haven't. In fact I've barely fasted at all this year. But I am still keeping healthy. I have actually gained back a lot of the weight I lost and yet I am not downhearted. I started at 9st 11lb and the last time I weighed myself (yesterday I think) I was 9st 7lb. My lowest weight in the last 12 months was 8st 11lb, just before Christmas. I felt fab then, and I still generally feel good now.

Since Feb I have been going to the gym about 3 times a week and I have been gaining weight all that time. I found that I have struggled with energy levels due to the increase in exercise (I do a couple of hour-long gym sessions of cardio and weights and a bokwa class - in a good week! Less in a busier week), and fasting has not really felt like an option - I've either been doing a workout, or have just done one, or about to do one. I'm sure lots of people do heavy workouts while fasting or just after or just before but I have just felt I needed more food. Anyway, even though my weight has gained, my clothes still by and large fit. I feel fitter and I definitely have more defined muscles - I actually have biceps! Although the bingo wings are still there, but then I do still eat too much chocolate...and the rest.

So I'm not going to feel too bad about not fasting/gaining weight. I know some of it is muscle and I also know some of it is chocolate/home made pizza/cheese/all the good stuff I love and get very hungry for! I'm going on holiday next week and I may decide to try a few Monday fasts once I get back, as it's generally a low exercise day (apart from 30mins walk to work & back). I anticipate gaining another few pounds next week as although it's a walking holiday and we are frugally camping, I envisage a few hearty post-walk pub meals with pints...

Happy Fastiversary, April/May 2013 starters!

Wow - as usual you've come up with another fascinating snapshot of the collective work-in-progress @Carorees - useful to lob over at the naysayers (if there are any left - they seem awful quiet lately - in the press that is - compared with last year. We're obviously now last year's news - lol!)

Happy fastiversary @Greenmonster and well done on the changes you have made.
What an interesting read @carorees thanks for that. @silverdarling I too have noticed how the negative press has slowed down and also how some of the big diet companies are acting, with Lighterlife now having it's own 5:2 plan and Weightwatchers saying in their ad 'you can eat all this with no fasting'. We know it works and so do they. The difference is the only thing we pay are compliments to each other. We also have the friendliest forum there is. :)

Thanks CandiceMarie, you might have not been around on here as long, but looks like you've posted ten times as much as me!!!

I notice you joined on my 2nd wedding anniversary! I'd like to say I was doing something tremendously exciting and romantic that day but I wasn't, I was at home on my own doing housework and having our windows surveyed as my husband was working away. We did have a nice weekend tho.

And yes justdee I can't help but notice that 5:2 is very definitely mainstream now, what with the lighterlife version (why oh why would you need to pay through the nose to do their version?!) and it's obviously rattled WW cage - I do shout at the tv every time their advert comes on because they make out you can eat loads, but when I did WW I was permanently ravenous and unsatiated by all that air-filled low fat food (hungry? '0' point soup AGAIN? - no thanks!)

I am definitely feeling that I will try getting back into it again over the summer, shouldn't take much to just help me feel a little leaner again.

haha @greenmonster that's just like me. Those ads pee me off, full of miss information. Good luck getting back to fasting in the summer months.

I'd like to sneak into the fastiversary tent as I've just passed my 12 months of fasting.I've managed to lose nearly 9 kilos even though we have been away caravanning quite a lot of the time.My chart shows a lot of ups as well as the downs but on the whole I seem to be slowly losing the weight on what has proved to be a sustainable wol.
Thanks everyone for the support which has been given.
Keep up the good work
