@callyannaI was just thinking today about blinkin as in " blinkin heck!" And flippin as in " flippin heck! "
This avvo,in Taskers with Beau, spoke to a guy i worked with 45 years ago! Was odd to stand and chat and think that last time i spoke to him i'd have been wearing a miniskirt and a short skinnyrib jumper! And weighing about seven stone less..literally half the size...and he, he looked exactly the same weight! Meh! X :curse: flippin heck...

Ps @callyanna..you dont hear anyone say " divil" these days..
My nan said it coz to say devil was swearing..... as was " hell" ( so we said heck instead) x

@CandiceMarie - is 'divvie' from 'divil' then??

@SilverdarlingOh thats another word you dont hear that often now! Seems to have gone out of favour..but meant someone who was a silly idiot rather than a devil..
As a kid,it was a verb rather than a noun..to divvie or divvy up something was to share it out equally
Language is so intriguing isnt it!
@Silverdarling and @callyannado you recall yr mums using names you never hear used now..
For instance,my Mum used to call anyone loud " Mouth Almighty" or " Big Truck"
Someone a bit dozy, she wd call" Lively Polly" and anyone gloomy," Pleasant Amy" or " Smile Awhile"
Never used these names to people's faces of course!
As an adult, have never heard any of these names used, only in my childhood and only by my Mum! X

Hi, seems not, I pooled my two with Rev. Richard Coles one disaster to make a joint three so hopefully averting further danger, thanks for asking :0)

Ended today's eating on 77g carb and feeling good on it.

My friends what should I do? I haven't eaten chicken since 1969, only started eating fish maybe 7 years ago, but I wonder should I eat our feathered friends so there's some change from five days of fish and the advantage of primary protein?

Unsure. Puzzled and perplexed.

All of your collective wisdom gratefully received please.

Would you feel better if you only consumed chicken that had had a lovely happy free ranging life?
I allow myself to have chicken and eggs with that reasoning
Glad you didnt get numero 3 ! X
Talking of free rangers, i heard some teenagers refer to the little Cumfy bus( that goes all round the place 5 times an hour) as the Tabby Free Rangers Bus.. I asked what they meant and they said coz its always full of old ladies roaming far and wide

The 'divvie' was the shared dividend we got annually from the COEE (co-op), used to know my mum's number off by heart as you used it every time you bought something if I remember rightly. We also used it as a verb though to share or divide something as you say @CandiceMarie

More words from the past: frock, galoshes, gamp, perm, overcoat.

Oh wow PFT...gamp..my mum used to call an umbrella a gamp, but i had totally forgotten til now.
I love the word frock, sounds so carefree!
No one ever says wireless for radio these days! Or " stays" ( corsets)
No one says " stout".. These days people are plump or overweight, even obese, but never stout.
Never hear of gramophones any more..or party lines!
anyone recall " loosies"? You could go into a shop and buy a loosie, just one cigarette! Doesnt happen any more
Funny old world!
