Sorry about all this folks.
In the early days it was requested by several members that the default be changed to notify on replies. I recently changed this back to not notify by default as I had no idea the sheer volume of emails being caused by this and how it was causing a backlog in the server.

No problem M, I think I was one of the guilty original requesters, but as you say with the backlog email notification has become pretty pointless.

Any chance of having a pop-up window when there is a reply on a subscribed topic - like the one for PMs? So we can subscribe to a topic but choose to be informed by pop-up as well as or instead of email. Maybe even get rid of the email option altogether and change the subscriber email setting to pop-up notification instead?

Maybe it would be better to change the auto respond setting for all users after making an announcement. & ask people to clear out their subscription notification thread list. That way the service can return to 'normal' & be useful for those of us who do want to be notified of activity on threads we've specifically subscribed to.

Good idea to request users unsubscribe to anything they don't actually want to follow.

There isn't currently a way to receive a popup notification of replies however I'm keeping my beady eye on a forum modification in development which offers a much nicer notification system.

The other thing I'm considering is splashing out on a fancy bit of forum software and porting as much as possible over from here, although at a couple hundred quid the thing ain't cheap. Will probably see how the next version of phpBB comes out first ;)

OK, so what can I buy from Amazon to increase your funds? Hmm... (An opportunity to shop should never be turned down IMO!)

Do you get anything for Kindle purchases through your link Moogie? Most Kindle stuff I buy through my Kindle unfortunately - so easy. The Kindle does have a browser in it so in theory it might be possible to detour via the browser and make the purchase that way.

Yes, kindle purchases count too - thanks! :)
