Gutted with 1st weigh in!!
15 Feb 2013, 07:46
Started last friday and did fastings days on monday and wednesday which went ok and I stuck to the 500 cals. Weighed in this morning and lost 1lb  which I know is better than putting on but was hoping for more in the 1st week. Took waist measurement but not really much difference with that either. Don't feel like I've over ate on my the feed days, I only need to lose a stone but was hoping for more to give me that push for next week.

Not giving up and will carry on next week, might try weigh in after fasting day as this week weighed in after feed day.

Anybody else had similar experience or any words of wisdom??

Last week was my first weigh in and I lost nothing, not an ounce, so count yourself lucky. Like you only want to lose less than a stone....but this morning, lost 2lbs. Slow and steady will keep it off....at least that's the theory I am going with, so now moving onto week 3 x

I'd say...well done you!

1 lb is what you would expect from the calorie restriction which is only 3000 cals for a woman and as 1 lb of fat is worth 3500 you would not expect more loss in a week and the progress tracker shows that the average loss is 1 lb. If you bear in mind that people you have a lot to lose will show a faster weight loss, then you should be pleased with 1 lb.

Remember this is a lifestyle change...you have plenty of time to lose that stone!

I didn't weigh until I had been following the plan for a couple of weeks and I noticed my clothes were looser. So it's best to stay off the scales!

Don't worry longess you are doing fine. Our weights move around quite a bit on a daily/weekly/monthly basis anyway - by c.3lb in my case. So you might have been unlucky with your latest scales reading, or lucky - as it were - with your opening scales reading.

The maths (calories in vs. energy burned) says you must lose weight with 5:2, so don't worry - it will work. In some ways it is better to start with a modest loss; some people report a huge loss in week 1 and then get upset when their weight 'sticks' for the next couple of weeks - just the same randomness working in reverse.

I'm more than happy with my single 1lb loss this week, after all that's half a bag of sugar!

A pound a week is my own goal.

When you weigh yourself there are always going to be variable results so judge your weight loss over a month or more.

To be blunt, your weight includes food that is "in process" so a half pound here or there can be down to how you time your bathroom breaks.

Conventional diets tend to see more dramatic initial weight loss because you're starving yourself, so there is less food "in process" in any 24 hour period. If you adjust the raw weight of food you eat in a day from three pounds to 2 pounds that missing pound looks like weight loss but it hasn't come off in fat, only on the scales.

Weighing yourself after a fast day will give you an idea of your "real" body weight but it may depress you when you then weigh yourself after a "normal" day. I make a point of weighing myself on a Friday morning, before the weekend binging but after a normal days eating.

That's it, I'm adding a new emoticon... this one needs to be used more often to remind people how great 1lb lost is!

Stick with it! Look on it as a long term plan. 1lb a week is great but focus on the fact that your clothes will start getting looser not what the scales say. That is what I find liberating about this plan!

my goal IS for 1 lb a week... if I could have that consistently I would be thrilled!! :) I lost 6lb my fisrt week, then yesterday weighed in and gained just shy of 1 lb after my second week which is hard for the head to deal with!! I just WISH I could lose 1 lb a week, every week.... PLEASE!! :D

have a great day

Although in the early months of the diet I was losing more on average per week, I am delighted to still be losing around 1lb a week especially as I don't count calories on my feed days at all, and I'm not particularly careful about my eating then either. How great is it to be able to eat freely without guilt or worry and know that the scales will continue downwards?! :D
