How many cals
17 Feb 2013, 11:24
Hi I am a newbie,

I hope someone can help I have read quite a bit now on this way of life but I am confused about the amount of calories I can eat. I know that the average for a female is 2000 a day so when u fast it gets quartered and becomes 500. But when I put my height and weight into the my fitness pal it said my daily cal intake should be 1200 which means on a fast day I am down to 300 cals a day is this correct? If so I need more ideas on what I can eat on fast days as I am quite restricted.
Thank you

Stick with the 500 on fast days. There are other topics on here where calories on the remaining days are discussed but I'm not clever enough to be able to give you a link to them. There is also some discussion on whether we should be counting calories at all on non-fasting days. The conclusion on that seems to be - do what seems best for you!

Myfitmess pal also gave me a target of 1200 and someone else posted that this is usually what that site suggests. Personally, I am aiming for 1800 on non-fasting days, although quite often I can't eat that much, and I am losing weight. Why don't you pick a number and try it for three or four weeks? If, after that, you are either gaining, or losing, too much weight then adjust your eating accordingly.

Whatever you decide - good luck. Let us know how you get on!

You need to get the mfp to tell you how much to maintain your current weight. Then use a quarter of that for fast days. Probably this will be 2000 unless you are very small and inactive.
