Hello everyone, i am new here and not sure if i am posting in the right place but i am sure someone will keep me right.
I started the 5-2 21st of January after reading an artical in daily mail by Hugh Fearnly Whittingstoll (spelling bad sorry)
But i thought this eating plan sounded do able to me.
I am not very over weight but i do need to move at least a stone.
I am very pleased with results so far as i have lost 7 pounds
So i am nearly half way there.
I thought it would be nice to join a group of like minded people like myself.
I am a 65 year old female and a retired nurse
Looking forward to getting some help from everyone in this group.
Thanks for letting me join your group Leah

Hello Leah and Welcome :D
I've not been here long and just about to start my 2nd week tomorrow.
Sounds like you're an expert already, well done on your weight loss. You will find lots of like-minded people here and sure to make friends.
Have you read the 5:2 book yet? It has some quite useful info in there. But saying that - you could probably get as much, if not more help and advice from this forum.
Good Luck to you as you progress. Kay

Hello Leah
I was new myself here a couple of weeks ago. I have found the site very interesting and useful, also friendly and knowledgeable. I have been 5:2-ing for three weeks, as has my husband. We are finding the fasting fairly easy and are managing to eat moderately the rest of the time.

Keep us all posted on how you are doing!

Hi Leah, welcome to the forum. This is my 2nd week on the 5:2.
Weighed myself this morning and have PUT ON 2 pounds.

This week I am fasting from supper tonight (Mon at 7-7.30pm) till same time tomorrow evening. My 2nd fast will be on Thurs starting at the same time until Friday 7pm.

I went for a long walk yesterday (2 and a half hours, across fields etc). I have walked for at least an hour every day so I'm confused about the 2 lbs gain. I must have eaten too much on the non fast days?

This morning's breakfast was a Benecol drink, black coffee and 2 handfuls of fresh blueberries. Lunch will be homemade veg soup (Using up the bed of carrots, celery, leeks, parsnip, swede and onion that were at the bottom of the casserol dish when I pot roasted partridge and pheasant yesterday). Dinner will be grilled pork chop with steamed cabbage and some courgette cooked with onion, garlic and tinned tomatoes.

Any one else put on weight?

Do you always go for long walks?

Are you feeling a bit stiff after unaccustomed exercise? Have you had lots of salty drinks? These can cause water retention and an increase on the scales!

Hi Carorees. I am fairly used to walking so not feeling stiff at all. I'm not at all keen on salty drinks, prefer plain water, herbal teas instead and black coffee. When cooking, I use "low salt".

I'm sure all will work out fine in the long run. I can keep writing here of what I am eating and drinking and exercising. If I am doing something wrong then I am sure someone will tell me and I can get back on track.

By the way I've not felt hungry for lunch and so have not eaten my soup. I think I will have a fast day today seeing as I've had only Benecol drink, blueberries, a bit of mango and lots of water, herbal tea and a black coffee which all comes to 207 calories. That leaves me with 293 calories for the rest of the day. I'm sure there's something in the recipe section of the 5:2 book that will do the job.

What you are eating looks fine to me! Actually, 2lb is within the natural variation in your weight anyway, perhaps you were just unlucky to weigh on a heavy day (and/or lucky that the first weigh in was on a light day!).
