First 'official' Fast Day FAIL!
18 Feb 2013, 18:11
ARGHHHH! I fasted till 2pm and then had a banana, turned down cake which was bloody tough! Had some dry cereal which I shouldn't have done, then came home from work and had a couple biscuits :( now I am making my vegetable stir fry - have had around 700ish kcal today, 200 above what I should have....Will have to try and fast again tomorrow I guess. Damn it. Need more willpower.
I would say call it a day at 700 cals, which isn't that bad really.

Then fast as usual on your next planned day.

If you beat yourself up, you'll fail big time. This is just an adjustment day.
I agree with BBT053. Fast as usual on your next planned fast day. It's what I'ld do. I do like your C food diet ;) good that cauliflowers and cucumbers help on the way :)
Yeah you're right, it just sucks that I was good all day and now I have done this :S left over naughty things from the weekend, don't usually keep it in the cupboards! Maybe I will just have a day of 1000 calories or something to make up for today. I cannot have too many as I am still a Slimming World member and have my weigh in tomorrow!
It's not failure it's feedback!! That's my motto, just start again next time.
Hi Sophtwizzle,

It is my first fast today too and I have gone over. I planned to have soup at lunchtime, prawn and egg salad for dinner and 2 satsumas. ( total cals 495), however after the soup I became ravenous and had a banana an hour later. So totalling 595 calories.

Please don't think you have failed, look at it like I am , it's still a huge reduction on normal and I have learnt a valuable lesson, from now on I am going to eat as late as possible in the day as I felt great until I ate the soup.

I guess it's a new way of eating for us and it is going to be a learning curve for a few weeks, so chin up and well done!
hi
i had a similar experience last week, thought i would 'try' to fast and have 500 cal on thursday to see what it was like before commiting to trying properly
i went a bit over but other than that it wasnt too bad
so i am starting properly on this woe this week
just think of your day as a trial day and start again on your next scheduled day
i think you are not supposed to do it on consecutive days

jeniben
Agree with all the previous posts.
The reason a lot of us have our total calories in the evening is because we find that eating anything on a fast day seems to trigger the appetite.
I could easily fast every day. The non fast days are more difficult to control.
I think it's all a bit of a learning curve in the beginning. I'm sure you'll soon find out what works for you.
Good luck with the rest of the week.
Hi I'm in a similar position! Was great until after dinner when I had 3 chocolates & ended up with 659 cals. I'm trying to think that that's still quite a bit less than a normal day but I old just kick myself when I think how well I did until this evening!! I think I'd have actually found it easier o fast totally!
Some really good replies here so ill learn from these thanks x

I think this is why so many people say they get on better with no calories until dinner, once you start eating it is hard to stop!

I have had a cuppa soup on other days but today survived on water and black coffee until just after 6 (since 8 last night) when I had roast veg and cod and then a fat free yoghurt - following that I could have just carried on eating and have had to keep myself topped up with fizzy water tonight! (was going to say I could eat a horse but seen as that might be a literal option these days I will refrain from using that saying!!)

Well done to anyone who has even partially fasted today. As I was told last week when I 'failed' at my fast, no such thing as a failed fast, just a flexible way of eating so you just move the planned fast to another day!
It got worse! I did the usual oh I've already messed it up for myself so I may as well carry on! Oh dear, it probably does not help that I am at 'that time of the month' (sorry to any guys reading this)! It's a big work in progress I suppose, I have had a bad week all round to be honest, was poorly last week then the weekend arrived...yup just making excuses now but you catch my drift.

Try and try again.
Keep going, it's still good, if you were on a 1200 calories diet, you would be doing really well!

Also 1/2 an hour walk would burn those extra 150 or so calories, so don't feel bad, just go out and walk for a bit, unless you live near allot of takeaways, when I suggest it might be better not to!!!

Don't think of it as a fail, it's your 2 week induction period and you are allowed to learn for yourself how best to fit the WOE into your life, surely you would give that to anyone else, so give it to yourself and cut yourself some slack!

Hi I am in Cornwall to ;) on day two could murder a pasty!!!!
Agree with so many of these posts - there's no such thing as a fast day - you're way below your usual calorie intake, so think positive on that. Stick to your next fast day and learn from any 'mistakes' you feel you've made today. It's early days - lots to learn (for us all) - stick at it and you will be rewarded I'm sure :)
