Hello everyone, I'm new.

Hi, im Demi. I'v just started 5:2, this is my second week. I'm a bit skeptical of the health benefits besides weight loss as there is not sufficient evidence on humans at this point. But I'm going to give it a go anyway because i want to loose some weight.

I'm 27, married with 2 young children. I'm not overweight but want to loose that last bit of baby weight i'v not been able to shift.

When i started 5:2 last week i was 53kg, BMI 22.2
Today i am 52.4kg, BMI 21.8

I hope to get my BMI down to about 20, so I'm in the middle of the healthy range. Is it healthier to aim lower? But i don't want to end up looking frail. I'm not sure really what my ideal body weight should be.

I eat relatively healthily. Lots of fruit and veg. I cook everything myself, never buy ready meals or any junk food like that. But i do a lot of home baking and have a really sweet tooth which is my downfall.

Today is my 3rd fast day. I'v fasted before to loose weight and i know it works, but i'v never continued to do it every week like this. I would fast for a week or so if i put on weight then once i lost it i would eat normally again. The way i was doing it was certainly not sustainable. Hopefully this will be and once im under 50kg i'll change to 6:1 and hopefully maintain my weight long term.

So hi everyone! :D

Good Luck Demi, watch you don't fall down the drain as you cross the road...sorry it's just you appear to be very slim with a BMI that low (or so healthy) I can't see why weight is your focus? Maybe focus on the health benefits of 5:2 rather than weight?

Hi my name is Lisa this is my second week of the 5:2 diet im doing it with my husband.

I am 46 (oh god) i am 5ft 2in and weigh 10st 12 BMI 27.I have Fibromyalgia which is hard for me to exercise as in constant pain, but carrying extra weigh doesn't help i know. I am also on a cocktail of drugs which doesn't help with weight lose either.

My hubby had heard of this diet on the radio and thought it might be good for us to do it together so we are a bit thinner by summer.

Its been really easing which i found strange as i thought it might be harder, where as my hubby has found it hard. My mum is now doing it and she says she has found it easy. The only disappointing thing is in 2 weeks ive lost 2 lb where as hubby has lost 7lbs and my mum has lost 7lb (she has lost that in a week!!!!) so unfair. I know i can't exercise very much and 2lb is ok but is a bit disheartening when they have lost so much.

Is this normal to only lose that much in the first 2 weeks? What is the normal weight lose each week?

The average weight loss across the forum is around 1lb per week so you are on track. Have a look at the progress tracker and view the forum stats. You can filter the results by gender, age, starting BMI etc to get an idea of what people like you have achieved. I think you are on target. I expect your OH and Mum will have ups and downs and so will you so some weeks you will 'win', other weeks one of them will!

As fibromyalgia is an inflammatory condition I am hoping the fasting will help it. Not noticed a big difference but I only have it fairly mildly (sore pressure points but not much ongoing pain). Hopefully fasting will benefit your fm.

Good luck

Hi Flabbynanna...(terrible name) lol..anyway just to say that I too am not able to exercise as such and I've decided to only get on the scales once a month. From what I have read just on this forum this is not a quick loss thing but rather a long term way of life thing.

Best of luck with it. x

Hello MadAngie :D

I am not classed as over weight, but after 2 pregnancies where i put on over 30kg each time, my stomach is all flabby, wrinkly and covered in stretch marks and i'v never been able to loose my baby belly afterwards.I am very self conscious about my body to the point where i am even embarrassed for my husband to see me naked, and wearing a bikini on the beach is completely out of the question. I don't even like showing the tops of my thighs and i always wear knee length skirts ect to cover them.
I breastfed both my children for 4 years and still counting. Still breastfeeding my 19 month old at the moment and i'v lost the majority of the weight just through breastfeeding it off :D But i'v been stuck at this weight for the past 3-4 months, actually i'v put a few pounds back on, so breastfeeding alone isn't shifting the weight anymore, which is what's brought me to fasting.

I'm really short, only 5 foot 1, so when i say my weight people think im really slim, but i assure you i'm not. I know i don't have that much to loose, just the last 10lbs or so to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I'll be happy. Hopefully it wont take too long.

Oh dear, I hope someone can advise you re losing the flabby baby belly... I think this is something people suffer from a lot when they lose weight quick - and I suppose having a baby qualifies in that category lol!! Good luck, I suppose if the skin tightens up you would be happier...

Have been really good this week and have found the fasting diet really easy to follow. Have had a few panic attacks and on meds for them now, and have felt really poorly due to my Fibro and haven't felt like eating lunch on the non-fasting days. It says in the book to eat normal on the non fasting days, now is that still counting the cals your eating or do you just eat normaly? I am watching what i eat and having smaller portions.

Weighed this morning and ive stayed the same, really disheartened :x as my mother lost 7lb on her first week. So in 3 weeks i have lost 2 lbs. I have managed to do a bit of exercise which im really pleased with, its only 10 mins, ive got a power plate as i can't do any exercises that involved jumping up and down.

But will stick to it, i have noticed my hips are a little smaller. I do tend to lose from my waist first then hips and bum. But doing it with hubby is a lot easier as i would have given up by now on my own.

Oh and on my name Flabbynana thats what i am, couldn't think of another name (which is Lisa by the way)that was the first thing that came to mind when i joined.

The one thing i struggle with is meals on the fasting day, or dinners we just end up with chicken and veg. Any ideas?

Lots of love
Flabbynana :D
