I have been suffering from heartburn and indigestion on my non fast days but have never had problems before. On non fast days I eat normally ie. a small bowl of Jordans cereal and 1% milk, a light lunch and evening meal. Tea and coffee also seem to upset my stomach, however I only have 1 coffee and 2 teas a day. Has anyone else noticed a simular change on starting fasting?

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. How long have you been fasting for? This could just be your body adjusting to the new way of eating, and it may pass. You could also tweet Dr Mosley about it, he may have some knowledge of this - @DrMichaelMosley
Don't really have a good reason for suggesting it, just that if you have some kind of borderline lactose intolerance if you are having a relatively higher milk load (milk on breakfast and in drinks) on fast days that might be a problem.
We are about 4 weeks in and my partner and I have both experienced heartburn on normal days. It seems worse for me when I have had a large protein rich meal later on the evening. We will keep an eye on it and let you know what happens.
Overall the diet is working mainly because it is sustainable. It seems the Tortoise does win the race after all !!
I started doing the daily mail 2 day diet, on both days i had really bad heartburn, i think it was down to the large amount of protein you are supposed to eat. So stopped doing that and going to follow this one instead sounds much easier, first fast day tomorrow!!
Anyway, let us know how you get on and if you find anything in particular that helps/worsens the problem.
Haven't had black coffee yet but will bare this in mind thanks.
