Calorie intake on feast days
20 Feb 2013, 08:37
Is there any advice on intake? I did my first fast on monday but was much more conscious of what I was eating yesterday - even with a biscuit and an ice cream down the beach I still only came in at just over 1600 cals - is this ok? I wasn't deliberately denying myself anything, just eating when I was hungry and not snacking on biscuits and sweets. Oh and I had a chocolate mini roll too!
I want to do this right! I know when I was on ww that not eating enough slowed down loss.
Does anyone have any experience of when they have optimum loss?

Oh and I know I should wait till next week but the scales say I'm three lbs down already!
We are beginning to see a few people who appear to have a slow down if they greatly undereat. However you need to look at the week as a whole. So I find I overeat at weekends (well its probably the wine ) but eat below TDEE in the week. As long as the average intake is not too big a deficit over your daily calorie needs you should not go into starvation mode.
I have been eating under 1400 cals a day so do i need to up my intake on feast days? This is my third week, lost 4.5lb week 1 & 1.5lbs week 2 :D . So can anyone tell roughly how many calories i need to eat a day to not undo my good work fasting 2 days a week??
If you are losing weight and not consciously restricting yourself, no need to worry about feed days. If you are consciously restricting yourself on feed days, try not to. The beauty of the diet is that you shouldn't have to worry about feed days!

You must expect the weight loss to vary and even stop on some weeks. If you have not lost any weight for a month then it might be worth calculating your feed day calories and your TDEE just to see if you are over/under eating. But in your case it all looks fine.
