I'm so enthusiastic about this diet it feels manageable and sustainable. I would like to lose 8stone ideally, and feel that following a 3:4 ratio for a while might help shift some good amounts early on. I was planning fasting Monday, Wednesday, Friday as this would fit my routine quite well. I did 2:5 last week and lost 3lbs which was really easy. I thought I would make use of this early enthusiasm and go for 3:4 does anyone have any thoughts?

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! I'm so glad you are enthusiastic! However, I would suggest not going for 4:3 at this stage. Firstly, as you have quite a bit of weight to lose you should find the weight comes off pretty steadily. Second, rapid weight loss is not a good idea...the is a risk of developing gallstones which can be very painful and even dangerous...I saw a thread about it today...worth a read. Third, it's good to keep 4:3 up you're sleeve for when you've had a particularly indulgent week or for when you reach the inevitable slow down.
I had 4-5 stone to lose and have lost about 2 stone in four months, which I think is plenty quick enough.
If you look at the forum stats in the progress tracker you'll aware that the 4:3 people are not losing weight enormously faster than the 5:2ers.
Don't lose your enthusiasm though!
Plus my skin is reacting well to the slow loss. Don't want to be left with an apron, rather be fat.
Others may contradict me as it'll be different for other people.
