Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Husbands Breakfast. Is This Ok?
26 Feb 2013, 09:50
This morning he had 1/2 banana, slice wholemeal toast and and a muller light yoghurt. Do you think this is ok? Maybe I'm just jealous as I don't eat bread on fast days!
I think that should be fine as it is about 250 calories leaving him 350 for later. Prob best not to have more carbs later though, maybe just a meat or fish and veggie dinner
Thanks Pilchards. I wasn't sure.. Now he thinks basa fillet coated in breadcrumbs is ok for tea. He hasn't read the book and expects to wing it coz he has read an article about it in the paper! I on the other hand am trying by avoiding this kind of food on fast days.
He might be fine just winging it for a while. When he plateaus in his weight loss is a great time to get him to tighten up the program and pay more attention to the rules.
An egg is a good breakfast, more lasting than the sugars and starches he had today.
This is a daft question, but what difference does it make?

If you had two mars bars on your fast days, that's less than 600 cals so if you were happy, couldn't you do that?

Yeah I know it flies in the face of being healthy but doesn't the diet still work as you have restricted your calories?
Yes, boboff, it would 'work' but most people find eating carbs especially sugar results in increased hunger, so if you don't mind the hunger pangs its OK. Also, if we are trying to get some fat burning going, replenishing your glycogen stores by eating carbs will just delay the time before the fat burning really starts.
